Default M69 question(octagonal rifling)

I was at a LGS today and saw a used M69 on the shelf. Asked to look at it and was surprised to see it appeared to have octagonal rifling like my glocks do. Went to SW web site to look up the M69 specs. And found nothing about it. What say you?

You mean Pentagonal, 5-sided. Octagonal means 8-sided. As I recall Glocks are Hexagonal, 6-sided.

Yes, S&W barrels tend to have somewhat of a pentagonal (5-sided) appearance because they have 5 rifling grooves. Some lighting situations tend to accentuate this illusion.

Thanks for your reply, what you said makes perfect sense. As I recall there was rifling (lands and grooves) I guess it was visual. I mostly shoot lead bullets and rumor has it with glocks&HKs it's a no no, but I have had NO problems. Thanks

Glocks and high end Kahrs use what's called polygonal rifling.
