Angry Check Your DeSantis Clip Grip NOW

I really like my Clip Grip, however I came up with an issue that may affect your survival. I was out shooting last week when my Model 49 J frame started having a weird DA trigger feel, then finally locked up with a strong grip on the gun. Totally locked up, couldn't even cock it single action, never seen anything like it. I've never had this experience before so I set it aside until I returned home. Totally perplexed as to how that could happen, upon removing the grips I found that the screw that holds the escutcheon on the right grip had backed out completely. It is in direct line with the hammer spring and I surmise was binding up the spring so hard I could not fire the weapon until it came completely out. Luckily I was shooting for fun, hate to think of what may happened if I was depending on it. The screw had worked loose after just 3 months and 300 rounds of .38spl. I notified DeSantis, and am going to get some thread locker before I put them back on the gun. Please check your Clip Grip before you carry your J frame.

Default Thank you, OP!

I have 2 Model 637 "Wyatt" revolvers on which the DeSantis grip is factory issue. I discovered that it was difficult to tighten these grips securely on the frame, that they would automatically loosen. I removed them from both guns for this, and other reasons. Now I read there is a potential problem from this loosening. Guess I was also correct on this matter.

Thank you, OP, and welcome to the Forum. Always great to have new members.
