max load for 329

One of the links took me to the 24hourcampfire forum and the other took me to a guide's site for South African hunting. Either way, shooting a bear caught in a snare is hardly a "culling" operation.

I get a big kick out of Buffalo Bore's "reduced recoil" loads. 255gr Keith GC velocities from their website:

➤ 1264 fps -- S&W 329PD (4 inch)
➤ 1357 fps -- Ruger Red Hawk (5.5 inch)

From my 329 PD, Remington 240gr JSP factory loads chronoed 1,244 fps at 5 long paces from the muzzle and 75 deg f.

My handload of 21.0gr A2400 and 250gr Keith (429421) chronoed 1,250 fps from my 4 1/4" M69 at 5 long paces from muzzle and 83 deg f

Yeah, I'm not sure they are really "reduced recoil", they are called that according to BB because they recoil less than the 300 and larger gr. bullets. I don't see how you can reduce the recoil and still have a full powered load.

?
What do you think a "culling" operation is?

I sent you to the site that he hangs out on because if you wanted to, you could do a search on his posts and learn the history of the development of the 240gr XTP and his experience using it. I also sent you to his guide site because he spends part of his time in RSA.

Sorry I can't spoon-feed more information to you. Guess you're gonna have to take a little responsibility yourself.
