Ok I did it, my brother and "I had to get" a 460V. So we pooled our pennies together and got one.
Accurate, sweet, fun. Damned I really like this gun.
The 45 LC PLUS for our ruger, the 454 and the 460 all were really accurate whompfers but the 454 casull was not as impressive as the other 2 for some reason? Reloading may change that.
So my question is who makes a good ccw ankle holster for southpaws for this?

I think ankle holsters are best reserved for small guns. Even then, I find them uncomfortable.

A pistol the size of yours needs a belt to be manageable for any prolonged (more than 30 minutes) time.

I don't carry my 460 in an ankle holster but...I very often carry a 41 mag.3" in one....it's all in what you get used to

Xframes for CCW

Im talking about the 460 and the 500 magnum. THEY ARE NOT FOR CONCEALED CARRY.

They are not personal defense weapons unless you are personally defending yourself from a bear.

There are some common sense rules for what to shoot human threats with. Depending on where you are, you could have a hard time explaining to a judge why you shot that infamous unarmed intruder with a cannon meant for large game.

The only response is: "Because I was in fear for my life and it was the weapon I had at the time." Not to mention, it worked, right?

I wouldn't refrain from carrying because of "the man", I mean, every gun is "evil" right? For example: "Oh my god, he had a glock with a 16 round "clip"... what an evil gun."

So, what I am getting at is this: carry the hog, and you will be the only one to testify at trial (the bad guy will be pulverized)... so what is the problem? Either way, it got the job done.

To your question though: I don't see an ankle holster being practical for this weapon. Maybe a belt, but really an alaskan chest is the only realistic option.

I own a 500 you will be way over gunned with a 460. A 357 with 125 grain ammo will be your most effective weight to power round (revolver) and even then a judge may consider that over the top...... Although I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by six...

I suspect no major holster maker regularly produces a left handed ankle holster for a 5" barrel, 4+ pound X frame...demand is low. I'd suggest a request to a custom maker, along with straps to attach the rig to your left hip and pants with really big cuffs. :)

Well, if I had one I'd carry it!!!!
Here are a few of my 44mags that I have custom holsters made for. They aren't much lighter than the 460! My Ruger Alaskan is very comparable to the size and weight of the 460.

In old days this is what would be called a "hoss pistol" It would be carried on a horse.
Summer dress for old folks round this part of North Texas is shorts, so yeah I am pulling your leg, I will have to carry this in a chest rig of some sort.
I often carry a judge so this is not that much bigger.
BTW did I mention I really like this 460 V

Oh and can some one recommend an CCW ankle holster for my 45-70 BFR for southpaw?

Here's a hoss rig. Rests across your lap when you're in the saddle.

Now why would anyone need a gun that big? LMAO
Nice rig- I am am jealous. And I bet it would fit my X-frame too.
But then again while I have the land for them I don't have horses- I am not rich enough to afford my vet's kids' college and their house mortgage.
I take it that is real Buffalo hide. She is a beauty.

Need? Oh, heck, you mean we're supposed to need these things? I missed that memo.

Yip, your 460V would slide right in, but your barrel would come up a littler better than 5" short.

Right again: bison hide, with cowhide lining. Thanks. I've added a shot of the cartridge box -- holds 10 .50 mags.
