This is a potential boon to the S&W revolver crowd where precious few models have rails for a light. My speed and accuracy suffers when firing while 'cup and saucer' holding a flashlight, but none of my three S&W PC Short Barrel carry revolvers have a rail obviously, so you don't have much of a choice. If you do have a TRR8 and mount a light, then you're likely facing a custom holster order. Enter the 2211X maybe?

This is a follow up post now that I've had a couple of shifts with the Surefire 2211X Wrist Weapon Light; and, used it simply as a flashlight as well.

It seems to be an adequate substitute for a mounted weapon light with one limitation: You have to quickly press a button to activate the 300 Lumens prior to your draw. But I still think it is faster than with a flashlight for illumination, as you have to deploy both your light and your fire arm, and go in to one of the grip techniques. With a rail mounted light you're probably faster than either. Weirdly, for now the 2211 is available in three versions, but only available for right handed shooters. By the way, anyone who walks their K9 at night this is an easy $150 to spend.

Advantages:

1. You suddenly have a weapon light for every firearm you own.

Even with a patrol rifle or 'ole Bessie' (12 Gauge), with standard two handed weapon handling long gun or hand gun, the beam is where you need it. With a two handed grip on your pistol, same thing.

2. Very nice very broad illumination; almost as importantly, no hotspots, smooth and even. Runs 90 minutes at 300 Lumens, 7 hours at 60 lumens, 13 hours at 15 Lumens.

3. No specialized holsters needed like when you use a rail mounted light.

4. While one button activation immediately cycles 300 lumens on and off, it is equally easy to drop down to 60 or 15 lumens. Meaning, I'm not tucking my duty light in my armpit to work with my hands. Big Moses can be a handful!! (lower right picture [not an LE K9]) very nice at night not to have a hand committed to a flashlight.

5. The light functions fine just for task illumination like the K9, or as a weapon light.

Anyway, initially, I'm pretty impressed by this product, brand new to this approach to tactical and general illumination, I'll see if I keep using it. I may even eventually drop the back up light from my duty holster.

Adaptions:

I have to move my watch to my right wrist when strapping this on to my support (left) hand. I may just leave the watch on the right side.

Other:

1. Too Steampunk big due to the CR123A battery housing. But worth the bulk, it's only 3 ounces, and it is only $150.

2. The much lower profile "Coming Soon" 2211, has the same lumens, about 30% less run time for an hour at 300 lumens, but is USB rechargeable. MSRP will be $229. It is also 2.3 oz. rather than the 3.5 oz. of the version housing the CR123A.

3. Sure also released a USB rechargeable version with a built in Luminox watch. No thanks. $649.
