Anyone with pics of Badger Grips on their N Frame?
I want to change the grips on my 327 PC 2" and want to see how similar guns look with this brand.

Posted the two I have my eyes on below.

I have one set of Badger stocks. They are on my 2 1/2" model 66-1, round butt of course. They are the most comfortable of any boot grip that I have ever used. The way they extend just below the bottom of the butt Gives my pinkie a place to be and really increases the controllability of the gun with magnum loads. I don't carry, but it seems the gun would still be easily concealable.

Here's a few. I've never tried the boot grips.

All mine are black except the brown ones on the 686-0. The color shading chances with the angle & intensity (flash) of the light.

FYI: I'd say their only drawback is that they're very smooth. If you have dry skin they're a little less sure feeling in your hand sometimes.

As mentioned above, I really like the Badgers. Would be nice if they were available with a rougher finish...maybe just oil rubbed or something.

When ordering, you can specify SATIN, instead of their default GLOSS.

I've mainly used their SB N frame models in the past, but have hoping to find a used set of RB K frame boots - to try out on my 3" 65-3.

Here's a pic of Badger "walnut" laminate SB / N, on my old 657 no dash.

Round to square "rosewood" conversions, on a 629-4.

SB / N "rosewood", on a M624 / 4"

I tried a set of Badger grips on my Ruger GP100. It didn't work out for me.

Firstly, I did not like the two-piece "clamshell" construction. I could feel the seam between the two halves and it was irritating.

Secondly, I did not like the grip angle imparted by the grips. They made my 6" GP100 feel very muzzle heavy, and they also seemed to amplify the effects of recoil, making .357s in particular very uncomfortable to shoot.

Your mileage may vary. I determined that these very nice looking grips were not for me.

Going to have some new unfinished Goncalo Alves Badger grips on Monday. Colt D frame and Smith K frame round butt. Will post pics.

Didn't see a Goncalo Alves option on their web site.
Are they laminate? Price break for unfinished?

It's on there as an option for the styles that I ordered. Select the grip and then look at the different finish options. Not a laminate. Did not discuss a price break for unfinished. Had to order the grips online and then follow-up to specify "unfinished."

Nice! Those would work well - on my 2.5" / 686-3.

What's the game plan for finishing? I've used tung oil on wood stocks in the past, but would like to try a light / neutral colored oil, that would provide more of a satin sheen.

Tru-Oil works well, but is quite dark.

Looking forward to before, & after pics - if possible.

As an aside, in the past, I've always done a bit of sanding on their laminates - usually to take down "pointy" areas around the rear of the trigger guard, minor re-contouring, or un-cover the side plate screw. The last set I bought (shortly after Jim sold to the new owner), required a bit of judicious fitting around the back strap of my no dash / 4" / 686. A little bit of light hand buffing w/ carnauba, finished out the sanded areas nicely.

A few years ago, I went through a Tactical Pistol Course at a neighboring law enforcement academy. I was the only old timer there that used a revolver. It was a 625 PC with Badger grips. On the second day of a 5 day course, a norther came in. The next day, it was 22 degrees and raining. I was surprised at how well those Badgers did in the rain. I thought they would be useless in those conditions, but I didn't have any trouble at all. I guess the finger grooves and how well they fit my hand made them work just fine. Almost like the built up suction between the palm of my hand and the grips. Some of my fellow students hands got so cold, they couldn't load their Glock magazines.

When we started the course, the instructors expressed concern that the course couldn't be done with a revolver. At the end of the course, they gave me an Instructor shirt and wondered why they ever switched to semi-autos.

I'll do a separate picture thread later. Just got home from a long drive but wanted to follow-up on this post.

Stopped by Badger Grips on my way back Charlotte from Georgia and picked up the unfinished Goncalo Alves Colt D Frame and Smith & Wesson K Frame round butt grips and a couple others. Will probably hit the unfinished grips with a little tung oil.

The others include finished Goncalo Alves J Frame (boot and 3 finger), a walnut J Frame, and another birdseye maple K Frame round butt. These are real wood....not laminate. These grips will probably end up on different revolvers.

Also, want to say thanks to David Gates (Badger Grips Owner) for accommodating my schedule today and, as always, making excellent grips.

I'm really liking that K frame snubby (M64?) setup! Thanks for posting.

Did they cut the grips to your hand measurement?

The Goncalo Alves figure is really outstanding. Gonna' look great finished!

They are not cut specific to my hand measurement; however, Badger Grips fit my hand as if custom-made. I suppose that is just luck on my part. Would not make them any differently even if I could.

Regarding the 64 snub set up, yes that works quite well. I will probably take the pictured to grip off of the 64 and put it on a 3 inch gun. Will probably replace it with a Badger Goncalo Alves boot grip. It would look essentially the same but with the last little finger "nub" ground flat. It would be the same size as the Birdseye Maple K frame round butt grip pictured above.

David has plenty of good stock Goncalo Alves left. I saw it stacked up and ready to turn into grips. This is a nice, and dare I say much better, alternative to the unduly expensive vintage factory Goncalo Alves combats that people are buying these days. Also, you support a small business owner and nice guy.
