Default 629 rollmarked as .357 - any Premium Value?

A friend in town has a S&W 629 .44 Magnum, 6 1/2" barrell (IIRC), unfluted cylinder, with box, in very good condition showing not much use at all. He has several dealers interested in buying or trading for it. I saw it last about two years ago, and the most noteworthy characteristic I could see about it is that the barrell is rollmarked as .357 Magnum, not what it is, a .44 Magnum.
Does this oddity command a premium in price? Several dealers are offering him deals that approach a value of $1,000. What are your opinions on the value.
Sorry for the scant details, but the rollmark error I guess is the main question.
Should I have him put on the brakes and look at it again for myself, or is this really nothing special?
Thanks for your opinions.

There have been numerous threads concerning mismarked S&Ws.
Consensus is that there's little, if any, additional perceived value.
It's not like the $1 million Inverted Jenny!

You'd think Smith would want to get their hands on it for legal reasons.

That was what my thoughts were as well. I passed this gun up at $1,000. last year - it just didn't 'move' me. But the fact that several dealers (I know two of the three) are salivating made me question my judgement.
I will dig out my fathers stamp collection and look again for the Inverted Jenny! Thanks for your prompt response.
