Hi. I recently picked up one of the 327 performance center revolvers and I know it is cut for moon clips already, and will shoot .357 magnum and .38 Special. But I have a question- since there are 8-shot moon clips for 9mm as well, is it possible to also shoot 9mm para through one of these revolvers by using moon clips? I know it would have a big jump to reach the rifling, but was curious if it was possible without damaging the revolver or not. Anyone know offhand?

Yes you can, as long as you have the cylinder re-chambered for 9MM.

I have a second cylinder that has been re-chambered from 357
Magnum to 9x23 Winchester. So not only will it fire 9x23 Winchester, it will also fire all of the shorter cartridges since rimless ammunition in a moon clip head spaces on the moon clip and not the case mouth.

So with the 9x23 Winchester cylinder in place I can fire 9x23 Winchester, 38 Super, 38 ACP, 356TSW, 9x21, 9MM Parabellum, 380ACP and more

The things I never knew. I am also interested in learning how I could do this shooting!

How well does the gun shoot 9mm Luger in the .357 chambers? I recall the Medusa didn't do so well, but the cartridge retention and extraction was identical to the 547.

Of course! All my 8 shooters have shot 9mm bullets and even those not specifically designed to. And using moonclips.

38 short Colts. 9mm bullets. Starline brass.

A cheap alternative to loading 357s all the time.

On an episode of "Shooting USA" television. One top pro shooter is using 9mm Bayou Bullets sized to .360 in his 929.

hi colt saa, where can the parts be found?, and who does the work on the 327? thanks....dan
Over the years I have bought parts everywhere.

The factory, local gun shops, gun auction sites, eBay, even right here on the Forum.

There are many choices for having the work done. I have dome some of the re-chamberings myself for others I have used Mike at Pinnacle. Some folks use Cylinder and Slide, Hamilton Bowen, TK and there is also whoever is your local gunsmith.

I think you missed a major point in my post.

I am not shooting 9MM Luger in 357 Magnum chambers

The 357 Magnum cylinder is re-chambered by a gunsmith so that you would be shooting 9MM Luger in 9MM Luger chambers

I actually shoot 9MM Luger in 9x23 Winchester chambers with my N-frames or I shoot 9MM Luger in 38SUPER or 356TSW chambers with my J-frames.

Yes I did. Understood now :D

Thanks, guys. I was wondering if it was possible or not. Good to know I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel(gun) here and how to approach it. So, basically a spare cylinder bored to 9x23 and I would presume timed to work with the current hand and bolt would do the job, then? I was just looking at this little revolver and trying to think of ways to make it into a multi-caliber weapon beyond just .357mag and .38special. Guess I need to start shopping around to get an idea on the price and availability of the parts and labor. I also like the idea of using the non-fluted version too as a visual cue to keep the two easily separated.

Actually, the unfluted cylinder is what came with that revolver and remains chambered for 357 Magnum. I think that was one of the first semi-pinto 627 offered.

The black PVD coated cylinder I am pretty sure was from the Night Guard production. Hard to remember that far back, that revolver is 12+ years old

The only part you need is a cylinder.

I have two brand new nickel cylinders in my workbench waiting for me to build up some 8 shot, Model 27 Pintos :)

I have just been too busy with 356TSW stuff this last year or so
