Model 15s are garbage
I was at a large local gun store on
the weekend and asked a salesman
I knew if any Model 15s or 67s were
available.
He said those models are usually snapped
up as soon as they come in.
Why?
They are just .38s. Compared to the
Model 19, often called the revolver that
has everything and nothing not needed,
the Model 15s are puny weak sisters.
No real man, or woman for that matter, would
prefer a Model 15 over a Model 19. So
why do I see Model 19s as often or more
often in LGS than 15s?
Perversion. A lot of gun perverts are out
there buying up Model 15s, or 67s. I say
they need a cure, they need to be sold
the Model 19s or even the absolute most
wonderful Model 586. Yes, the Model 586
is what real hand gun aficionados should
look for.
And let the Model 15s be in the squalor
of the back of the case displays. And
hopefully, no more preverted gun buyers
will find them.
And the prices will go down.

Anyone unfortunate enough to be in possession of an embarrassing Model 15. Help is a PM away. I will arrange for the ecologically responsible disposition of said firearm. Simply ship to my FFL and you will be relieved without the embarrassment of taking a WTS ad, or the shame of having same go unanswered.
No need to thank me. Doing good is it's own reward.

SADLY, I MUST BURST YOUR BALLOON, UncleEd.....
PERVERTED GUN BUYERS WILL ROOT THE MODEL 15s FROM THE SQUALID REAR OF THE GUN CASES, LIKE THE WILD BOAR ROOTS OUT TRUFFLES IN THE DEEP, DARK FORESTS......

I could never find one locally that hadn’t been neglected. I solved that problem.

I have several 19’s. I think I just bought a M15 on a GB mystery Buy. I’m desperately seeking an M15 Snubby! The hunt continues.

I love my 15-1. It’s probably the nicest S&W I own. And it’s one that won’t be parted with anytime soon. I have newer ones to shoot a lot, but none with a finish like yesteryear provided.

My garbage sissy gun (15-4). It's not for sale.
My real man's revolver (19-3). It's not for sale either.
Whoever believes a 15 is garbage or a sissy gun has a brain full of mush! Probably still has pimples too.
;-)
God bless,
Birdgun

Here's a "puny weak sister" the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy would loan to its trainees when they'd break their 19s.

My lone Model 15, like the Model 67 I bought a few years ago, was bought cheap with a couple of minor “issues” and destined to be used as the basis for a project that then went off in another direction. The 67 got a little TLC then was sold off at a small profit to help finance that project and the 15, regardless of how sweet it turns out to look and shootwhen similarlyfixed up, will probably meet the same fate. I’m glad the OP had his tongue so firmly in place!

I'm another one who has the perverted sense of taste to own a Model 15, a -2 to be specific.
But what's even worse, I have not one, but two of them that are "just 22's". How wimpy can you get?

Ah, the Model 15. A 2" version was my first issued duty weapon.
And while I came to prefer the 2.5" Model 19, they're both near and dear to my heart, if only for nostalgia's sake.

Another garbage gun pic for you... This one walked into my work place and was offered up for sale. I said "I'll take it" before the guy could finish his pitch. The beret is from my AF days, some day I'll find a USAF marked M15 to go with it.

Well, let's look at one particular fact here.
So many only shoot 38spl out of their Mdl. 19's.
Kind of like buying a Hummer H1 to drive around town.
What is the point of owning a .357 Magnum handgun if you only shoot 38spl. through it.

So it can be unnecessarily heavy, intrinsically less accurate, and harder to clean.

My kinda 15 wanna -be. 67 no dash. 1973, with all stainless rear sights. I don't remember what stocks are on it now. These are modified Herretts I picked up. (In my grip file now) Notice the butt plate. My wife's favorite gun shoot to date. Bob

They can also be deceptive. I traded locally for a model 15-3 a while back.
Here's the picture that the previous owner was listing online:

Is that what you guys are doing? 'Cause I haven't seen anyone else in this thread that said that they were only shooting 38's in their 357's - unless I missed something.
To my way of thinking it is more a case of "having a 357 so I have the OPTION of shooting 38 specials TOO" - which we all know works just fine.
'Course we all also know it doesn't work the other 'way 'round.

I carried a Model 15 for years as my service weapon and wish I had the foresight, and cash, to buy it from the city when we got our stainless replacements. As to being a wimp compared to the Model 19 all I know is the one time I had to use it the bad guy went down and I went home.

Well...I have a 3T 6" Model 19 and my 3T Model 15 is of course 4". The two give me the option of shooting .38 Special in both a 4" revolver and a 6" revolver.
And on special occasions I can shoot .357 Mag out of my Model 19, I try to keep the .357 Mag round count in it down around 5% or less. I have L frame S&Ws and Security Six revolvers for my .357 Magnum needs.

I happened to stop in Cabellas today and my frindley pusher begged me to take a 15-3 snubby with box ,papers and original receipt from 1971 showing the gun was bought by a retired police officer ,who must not known much about guns because he paid$102.35 inc.tax. Boy did they rip him off.The Cabelas salesman asked me to let the store make a couple of bucks an buy it .I felt sorry for them and it is now at my house

S&W .38s are the best valued guns right now, though that's changing as the P&R magnums are just getting harder and harder to find for a decent price. Very glad I got my K38 and early M&P before the rush.

What happened to all those USAF 15's we qualified with every year? (...for those of us who were on mobility status...)

I love shooting 38's out of my newer 627 when I can find them at a reasonable price which isn't too often. I also shoot 357 loads thru it as well. to keep it fit and me also for the heavier load. Anybody who knocks a S&W Revolver of any cal must have rocks instead of brains in their empty skulls. All models are GREAT.

One of my dispatchers was just issued a beat-up nickel-plated, four inch, square butt Model 10-3 from around '82-'84 with the sweetest double-action trigger pull. I put a Tyler T-Grip on it, and she's going to qualification in the morning.
