I just bought a 66-2 3 inch for $230!
Unfortunately it is a little cosmetically challenged...........
I figure the barrel is worth that, and the other parts are just gravy.

JB Weld first followed by some Flitz and it'll be good to go!
Looks like it's vacuum packed?

Brings new meaning to the term "kit gun.
Some black smithing required!
A 3 inch barrel is valuable for a M66.
Best,
Rick

That's more than 'cosmetics'.
No amount of lipstick is going to fix that.

The frame above the cylinder is gone. Cut away.
The s/n on the bottom of the frame is also gone.

Dang, bottom side plate screw is also missing. Bummer.
Wait, I think I see it shrink wrapped and vacuum packed with some other screws.

Gorilla Glue will fix all that.
Still the parts are worth more than $250.. if you know how to fix Smiths.

That’s the rare “no butt” model.
Hopefully whatever broke the frame didn’t damage the barrel or cylinder.

Why do they do that????? Could make more money selling it as a functioning gun.

When you consider the cost of the rear site, forged flash chromed hammer trigger, internals, cylinder
and yolk and of course the 3" barrel (which is likely worth $150-$200 alone) you didnt do so bad....
Especially if the barrel is clean and you have a nice Model 66 with 2.5" snub barrel you dont mind swapping...
If you then sell the 2.5" barrel you will be way ahead IMO.

Can anybody tell us why this gun was cut up like that. Was it defective? Possibly a buy back gun that are then destroyed?
I am very curious.

I heard that inflation would eat away your economies but I didn't know that it would also apply to guns!

Probably a police turn-in, confiscation or involved in a crime, in a jurisdiction that mandates destruction of such firearms. Those of you who have seen "de-milled" M13 Aircrewmans (1911s, M-14s, etc.) know what this means, sadly.
