Default Question for 43c owners

I recently got a new 43c and immediately had to send it to S&w because the forcing cone was scraping the front of the cylinder. It never seized up, it fired flawless prior to sending it back to them. They replaced the cylinder and a few other parts. After I got it back, it shot flawless again BUT the forcing cone again scraped the finish off of the front of the cylinder. It’s not scraping while shooting, it’s scraping when the cylinder is opened or closed.

My question to other 43c owners is what does the front or your cylinder look like? I added a pic.

I see carbon fouling, but no scrapes.

The front of the cylinder is supposed to be black. Yes you can see the carbon build up but the finish is completely scraped off after only 50 rounds.

I own a M43C.

In your photo I see the normal "star" pattern created by escaping gasses. I cannot discern any sort of "scraping".

S&W is not known for sending out revolvers with barrel-cylinder gaps that are too close. Quite the opposite, S&W is known for excessive BC gaps. My own M43C has ample clearance between barrel forcing cone and cylinder face.

The matte, black finish of the all aluminum M43C is going to show "patterns" which appears in your photo. Unless you see lines or markings going "around" the cylinder, you do NOT have "scraping".

It is definitely scraping. It only scrapes against the forcing cone when the cylinder is being closed. I’m going to try to post more pics.
