Default My New Favorite 3”! Model 681-4 3” Performance Center Factory Quad-Port Lew Horton

Hello All!

I recently picked this up Locally (California), and have quickly been able to label it as my new favorite 3”.

Is this the only 3” L Frame Fixed Sight Smith made?

The trigger/action is superb, and the crisp, clean break just feels soo good.

Many thanks to the Forum member who posted these beautiful Culina African Bubinga Combats for sale.

Thank you John for your incredible Grip making Abilities, they sure do make my Smiths Pop!

Without further ado,

Smith Model 681-4 3” Performance Center Factory Quad Port Lew Horton 7-Shot .357Mag

Although I'm not a fan of ported handguns, that is a beautiful setup!

The wood is not African Bulinga, it's African Bubinga - but still purty!

That's a stunner. Too bad S&W didn't make a few more of those. I'd bet they'd be a big seller. Pssst, S&W are ya listening?
Nice find Nathan.

Great looks aside, I'll bet it's a shooter. Of all the guns I own, if I was tasked with putting seven shots on target very quickly, I would grab my 586L-comp for the job.

There was one of those made years ago with a green birdsong finish and a black cylinder (7 shot also). It didn't have the ports though. Beautiful gun and it will be a good performer. Enjoy!!

Haven’t taken her to the range yet, but when I do, I’ll update the post with a range report! ☺️👍

I have one exactly like this one in about the same condition. I have not shot it a lot but it has a beautiful trigger and balance and the porting had no effect to me. I was shooting +P .38’s though. Fantastic gun they are and pretty rare to find. Nice pics too on this one.

That's a nice find, especially in California.
