I've has this model 63 for a few years now. I bought it more or less because I knew in a few years I could make a few bucks off it. (I got a screaming deal on it) Two problems though : (1) Pach grips and (2) no box. I actually took it to the range once but just didn't do it for me. It was like shooting a pellet gun. Pew! Pew! I'm sure it'd be a great stray cat gun but I like my 44 caliber guns. Well I decided to get on Ebay last week and look for the correct grips. I found a beauty set for $28 and got them today. (WHY would anyone put Pachs on a 22???? Recoil??) So here are a few pics of the little booger. It's a FINE gun and well made. Just not enough umph for me. Maybe when I get as old as sw282!!! :D (note the canted barrel  that's only supposed to be on the present day guns. Move the rear sight over..problem solved)

YUCK!!

This is more like it.

OMG!!! A canted barrel. I thought that only happened after the internet....

I know I may have irritated a few 22 lovers...sorry bout that. Not my intention. Just personal preference y'all.

If you don't like the model 63, I'm sure there are a few on this forum who could help you out with that problem (pachmeyers or not). Just saying make the best of the screaming deal and help another member out who will enjoy shooting it?

May be happening sooner than later. I need a 4" 624/24-3. Like I said, no intentions to down grade a fine firearm.

I have a 63 no-dash my dad bought probably early 80s. I actually bought a set of Pachs for it, not due to recoil, but because I found the original grips to be tiny and didn’t like their ergonomics. I ended up with Hogue wood grips on it and all my other S&W wheel guns. Much better ergonomics and better looking than Pachs.

I get it buddy, no intentions taken. Whether it is the model, make or caliber there is always some things that drive our shooting and collecting interests. Like you I have really widdled down to the things that bring me joy in firearms. I've learned my lesson with plenty of purchases to see what suits me. I just say pass it on to the next person if it isn't your thing, someone else is bound to enjoy it! Just had to do that with the Sig P365! [emoji50]

Had the 4 inch 63 just like that (red insert front sight) many years ago. Used it in Colorado while Elk hunting to bag a snowshoe hare for the pot! Dumbly I sold it! But.. I do have the 2 inch 63 version now!

I understand they want ridiculous prices for the 2 inch version...

Easy young Jedi... you are no where near 800 years old... yet!!

Vette... is the barrel cant fix just as simple as turning the barrel with a barrel wrench with the grips off and the frame in a bench vice counter clockwise 3 degrees or so? Or is it more involved than that?

Maybe. But I'M not a gunsmith. Cranking the barrel in or out will also affect the bc gap so I'll leave that to a pro. ;)

I bought mine new in 1979, when attending college on the GI Bill. That was before caller ID, I would call the dealer everyday to see if the Model 63 had come into the store. With it I ate many rabbit and grouse meals while in school - no hippie soup(top ramen) for this .22 shooter. I quickly put a set of Herrett grips on it. It was the only handgun I owed for many years, the next handgun I bought was a 629, I figured with reloading, I had everything covered in between the two calibers.

I do believe the only .22 revolver I've ever shot was my Buddie's 63. I freaking loved it. I was nailing the smaller spinner targets at 25 yards double action. Not ever time though. But I was amazed I could hit it that far double action. I was using a rest too though. LOL. Still, those .22 spinner targets I have are small.

I'm liking the Banana Grips you posted a pic of there. I've yet to ever handle a Revolver with a set of those particular stocks on it. I need to change that as it could be my new thing!
