Default Model 63 22/32 kit gun, prices

I have been looking at a model 63. Comes with original box,and paperwork. Doesn't have the pinned barrel. 4", original grips. Would like an idea of when it was made, and the going price. Any help would be greatly apprieacted. I would rate the gun, above 95%, or better.

I have a 4" model 63 .22lr I bought new. As it is so versatile, it would be the last firearm I would sell. I can't recall how much I paid for it, but it was a lot cheaper than they are now.

The 4" model 63 without the pinned barrel was made from about 1982 to 1988; a serial number would help for an exact age. It sounds to be about a $650+ gun as described.

I paid $750 for one in May of 2016. It was used but like new the serial number of mine is N214115 with a dob of 1982.

Probably one of the best training guns ever made. Great for introduction to firearms for anyone but especially women and youth. Handiest woods walking gun made. As KSdeputy said, be one of the last guns I part with.

Amen to ALL of the above. In the condition you describe, pin barrel or not, I would not hesitate to plop down $700 for it. In my area, $800 is not un-reasonable.

At $900, I would look around to see what else is available, but those little guns are getting harder to find in excellent condition with box.

** Just checked my records. The last one I purchased was in Dec. 2016. It was excellent plus in box and I paid $775.....and would do it again!! (and I have a few of them .........GRIN!!)

Let us know what you decide to do.

Couple years ago I let a 4" 63 listed as mint with the box and all the good stuff slip away for $550. Just because of a 250 mile round trip.

Wish I'd made the drive.

The 2" 63's are insane $$.

Back in July, I scored a Model 63 (no dash) from auction seller "Jack the Dog" for what I thought was a steal; $566.78! Add in my local dealer's $10 transfer fee and I feel like a bandit!

No box, tools, or papers, and minus the original walnut magnas. But I'd been looking for a gun to wear a set of factory Rosewood checkered Target grips and this fit the bill perfectly.

What grips are those. I have a newer 63-5 I bought new three years ago. I've never fired it. I took it out of the box a few weeks ago and the hammer was completely rusted, looked like it an old crusty boat anchor. The trigger was fine. I shipped it back to Smith.

I paid $450 for this one a couple of years ago, but the owner just wanted rid of it. The chambers were so sticky the empties had to be knocked out with a mallet.

Nothing helped. I finally rented a reamer and turned it into a .22 Magnum.
