OK, I need a J frame. I want a permanent pocket gun. I want to add to my 1911 compact and my Charter Arms 45acp Pitbull. Love my Revolvers. I've shot Cowboy Action for about 25 years.
I've been reading every review I can find. I'd like the better trigger, so I'm thinking the Performance center gun will work for me. They're about $436 at Buds. I like the moon clip idea and want to carry a couple belt pouches for them.
I always get Eagle grips for my revolvers. I have Eagle Secret Service grips on my 45 snubby. Has anyone had experience with them? To order them, I have to specify "round butt" or "square butt". Which is the 642? I emailed S&W and got no answer. I'm finishing off with a Mika pocket holster. Appreciate any feed back.

I’d suggest getting the regular 642 (stainless) or 442 without the internal lock. The trigger will smooth out w/lots of shooting and dry firing, plus the money you save can go to ammo for range time. Speed loaders or speed strips work fine for reloading.

I have a PC 642 with no internal lock. Great gun, great trigger. I use the moon clip on the first load only for aid and speed of extraction and for reloads, I use a speed strip.
I would use the clips for reloads but they’re too bulky to carry for me.

Exactly this, except mine is a 442 pro series.

I really like the Eagle Secret Service grips for a J frame, though I do not like any brand of boot grips for any other frame size.

That said, they are thicker than the stock rubber boot grips, so I have the stock grips on the J frame I carry most.

I thought the 642 PC was only modified by cutting for moon clips.

Recently I commented on hickok45’s 442 PC video where he kinda skipped over the tuned action aspect. He replied that the action felt the same as his 642.

I ended up buying a 442 no-lock and couldn’t be happier. My wife carries a 642CT that I’ve shot a lot more than she has. Trigger seems fine on both of you pull through and don’t stage it.

All that said, I decided I definitely do want a .357, but not a j-frame.

Got a 642...didn't like the issue grips at all. So I replaced them with a stock set of wooden j-frame grips and a Tyler grip adapter (which is not marked, but a Tyler...four months to deliver). Now it's more concealable, which is my goal, but not as shootable as a somewhat bigger rubber Uncle Mike grip...not the S&W standard. Anyway, it's not a target gun.

The Pro Series seems to be only cut for moon clips and though it's advertised as a Performance Center gun according to the website, it does not have the Performance Center emblem. I have a 442 pro series with no PC markings. Could be the enhanced trigger models get the PC emblem only
