A friend has offered this to me for sale and I am just not up on any S&W made after about 1965. I have heard of these but didnt know they made them in a 3". What do I have and what would be a fair price for it. Comes with the case and what looks like all of the stuff and a package of full moon clips. Thanks, Larry

That's a beauty!

Likely big money on Gunbroker or the like. I'd pay a pretty penny for it myself.

I'll defer to the more educated on this model to determine a "fair" price.

The Model 627 V-Comps were offered in 3" and 5"

627V-Comp%20%20Rs.jpg

The 5" have been offered in stainless and two tone

The V-Comp is very effective at controlling muzzle climb when used with full power ammunition

If used with 38 Special or target 357s the V-comp will have little to no effect.

If you look under the foam of the packaging there should be a false muzzle that can replace the V-comp if you like

As far as I can recall there has only been one run of the 3" V-Comps so far.

If the package is complete and the revolver is in Very Good condition or better this piece should easily break the $2000 mark on the auction sites

3rd Edition S&W shows a revolver just like this. Listed with a 2 5/8 inch barrel. Millet red ramp drift front sight. This one came in an aluminum locking case. A Performance Center revolver. Manufactured 1999-2000. With only 302 made. Suggested retail at the time was $1025.
I have the 5" version of this revolver as a 627-3 V-Comp. I've made an effort to find out more about these revolvers. My version had something to do with the revolver that Jerry Miculak used to set his speed record in around 1997? I can't find the sn NWR02xx listed anywhere. But I think the time frame of 1999 is about the same for both. Somewhere in my searching, I came across another of these short barrel versions, in a years old post. I can't even take a guess at the value of your revolver. The 5 inch version 627-3 I have seen listed on Armslist for $2500. I'll be interested to see what other response you get on the value.

The 627-3 v comp 3 inch performance center you listed was distributed through RSR and only 149 ever made. Its one of the rarest and most desirable 3 inch performance center prelock guns ever made. It tends to be a holy grail to many and has the cult following like the super k. If its excellent condition with case and paperwork 3000-3400 easy should bring; if it has label quite a lot more. I have only seen a couple that were like new in box with factory label which not sure if yours is/ has it but if so last one I seen that was like new in box with label brought 5200 back in 2013. Only other one was one that was used with several marks and had several light scattered pitting areas on it and brought 3400 or 3600 while back. You have managed to find a very rare bird there fyi.

Thanks to all for your replies. The pistol has everything (I think), muzzle cover, and clip unloading tool. The only flaw is a slight turn line. Has the Aluminum case and is in the original cardboard shipping box with label. Out of respect to the faint of heart I did not photo the original price hand written on the box.

Here’s mine. It’s serial number is jma0096. I’ve been trying to figure out what kinda pistol this actually was. S&W kept telling me it was a miculek edition based off the 627-3 but none of the serial numbers match anythingclose to mine. It has all the paperwork and moon clips and also has the barrel extension that can be swapped for the compensator. It has the label that is identical to the one above except of course has my jma0096 serial number. This for me is the first time I’ve ever seen another one other than mine.
