I was looking for a Kydex holster for my new purchase. I checked with a vendor who indicated the Comp Tac International designed holster would fit the 329 but would wear the finish. International™ Holster | Belt, Paddle, Drop Offset Holster | Comp-Tac - Comp-Tac Victory Gear How durable is the finish? Should I stick with leather holsters. I really hate thumbrakes and love the retention of kydex holsters.

Get a good holster, it’ll spend a lot of time riding in it. A 20 round box should last a lifetime. 
Edit: I forgot to mention that I carry my 329 and other N frames in a Galco Alaskan chest rig, which likely weighs more than the gun.

I carry my 329 PD in a tanker chest rig from El Paso Saddlery.
It is my woods gun for hiking and canoeing. Just the ticket for this. And rides all day like that quite comfortably.

There are leather holsters that have good retention without a thumb break. Galco or Milt Sparks comes to mind.

Just the ticket for those 305gr@1250fps LFN bear loads lying around.
Just kidding. There are some great leather chest rigs or vertical shoulder holsters out there. I have a nylon vertical rig that won't win any beauty contests but does the job with my 4-5" N frames.

Who cares if a little finish wears off? Its just black paint on a alloy barrel shroud. Actually its seems to hold up better then traditional bluing in leather holsters. Just carry the thing with hot .44 specials or downloaded .44 mags.
