629-2 Mountain Revolver ...I bought this today. Dates to 1989 and the box, docs and sales slip were included. The only non original part are the stocks. These are cheap from India. I believe these shipped with Pachmeyer Grippers. The gun looks unfired but I think it likely was a little. It certainly was never fired much. I like this model better than the Mountain Guns they produced later. (629-4) The (629-4s) have a faint etching in them that says Mountain Gun...this 629-2s barrel is unmarked.. but they are the same gun as far as I know except for the endurance package. I am quite happy with this purchase.

Wanted to add a note about the grips
Mine was looking pretty well used when it went to mag na port
But if I remember correctly it had k frame size Pachs with a gold medallion and a little cut out in the bottom to read the serial number.
When it came back it was looking so fresh, I treated it to new pair and at that time the medallions were silver colored.
Which I think look better anyways

Welcome to the club! The Mountain Revolver is the handsome father of the Mountain Gun. Looks like mine was shipped the day after yours.

Here’s dad with his 629-4 sons.

Well look at you finding another gem!.... should have taken a better look around Ohio when I was there ugh!

I have a couple more heading my way too. More to come... next year the way the postal service is running.

I have 2 mountain guns now the 629-2 Mountain revolver and a 629-4 Mountain Gun. The 629-4 is gun only.

I thought I had a set of Pachs for it but in all my stash I don't have the right ones. I will order just so it's right as it was produced. I will put something else on it for show and tell.

They shipped with modified K frame Pachs, I suppose they hadn't started making N frame round butt grips yet.
I managed to get ahold of one a couple of years ago and had Dawson Precesion build me a Patridge sight with a tritium vial. And Patrick Grasshorn made a nice set of elk horn stags for me, and then I added a Tyler T-Grip.
It shoots real nice with 200 grain Speer Gold dots in .44 special. I have to admit my groups open up quite a bit with 240 grain magnums.
Good gun.

I bought one when they were first announced. All that CHEAP etching has long worn off from use and riding in a holster. Great gun.

The original Mountain revolver had rollmarks, the Mountain Guns had the cheap laser etching.

Sold my first 629-2 Mountain Revolver several years ago and always regretted letting it go. I had an opportunity to replace it in October. This one came with the factory Pachs on it. But I’m a wood grip guy so I added Kim Ahrends retro bananas in Cordia wood with a Tung oil finish. These are great shooting guns and this time of year I CCW mine in a Galco Vertical Shoulder rig. Cover it with a loose flannel shirt.
