Not exactly "ultra rare" but not seen too often. Crazy prices these days but $2k is about double what I'd be willing to pay. Passed on one (without box/etc.) showing light use a few months ago that was priced at $750. Kicked myself a bit later thinking I probably should have grabbed it. But $2k, wouldn't be worth that much to me.

I have one that is one of my favorite k-22's to shoot, not as a good condition as that one. Great guns, but $2k? It's a different world out there right now.

Oh my. I really like my 4" Model 17-6. Keystone Arms gets top dollar don't they ?
I had mine listed as valued at $1000 on my insurance record. Maybe I should rethink that some. I know those Combat Stocks bring some crazy values on their own when they are auctioned on ebay.

"One high sale doesn't set the market," he said, optimistically.

That does it. Next item I put on Gunsmoker, I’ll wear white gloves when handling it for pictures. That’s gotta add at least $500 to the price!

Things are nuts. A model 16 sold for over $5,000 a few days ago.

I was bidding on a NIB one 5+ years ago and placed my top bid of $800 fairly early on. It was considered a high bid at that time. I was leading until the last day. I decided not to look at the auction again until after it was over. I lost by $1 to a forum member. That was the closest I got to getting one.

One off pricing is off the charts..... for some folks $2500 is walking around money!
Wonder how it's will look after a year on "The Road"????

Well the last one there a month or so ago went north of 1800.--and one a few months ago without box and some wear went for 750 or so. I have one, but its a shooter , wanted a nicer one but not willing to pay that much.

I wouldn’t mind a 4” to go with my 6”. Paid $ 480 for it at an auction (opening bid) in 2014 here in Switzerland
It is a heavy revolver for 22 lr but very accurate and pleasant to shoot
Then I have a friend who recently bought a 8 3/8”

If the full underlug 17-6 is bringing the prices discussed above, I can't help but wonder what my 17-6 four inch without the full underlug is worth. I would assume there were less of that variation produced than the full underlug. Anyone care to speculate????

In 2019 I sold a on GB a 17-5 4" 98% with box for a little over $1000. In this market yours would go well north of that. $1500-$2000?

My understanding is that S&W brought out the 4" Model 17 after they discontinued the "pencil barrel" Model 18.
Here's my lineup of .22 LR Smiths - two 17s and an 18.
