I picked up a S&W M360 over run that is for the Japanese Police it's marked 360J and the sn. is on the left side of the frame were the logo would be not on the bottom of the grip because they use a lanyard and their is a hole for it , It's in 38 spl with a black stainless steel cyl. not Titanium like the 357 , The frame is Scandium like the other 360's . It has a std. front sight that's pinned . Has anyone come across these before and if so has anyone sent it back to Smith for a Titanium 357 cyl.?

I used to have a couple a couple years ago and really liked them, just could not get used to having a triggers (oops, hammers. Lol)on my carry guns. Here is the link to mine when I bought them. Congrats to btw, great gun just not for me as a deep carry gun.

I gone and done it, 360J times 2...

I believe they were made .38 specific so not sure a .357 cylinder would be compatible. Let me know if S&W says it can be done.

I sent my cylinder to TK Customs and had it set up for 9mm and moon clips.

Wait jus a minute sir - you don’t want triggers on your carry guns ... ?? :)

I bought a brand new 360J just like OP described last year with the SN on the left side and a hole in the bottom of the grip frame but chambered in 357. The cylinder is smooth. Not to high jack but is that how they are making them now? Or?

The j the op is asking about was a left over special run of guns s&w produced here in the states to get rid of thr extra parts they had back then for a run of them for the Japanese police service i found out when i bought mine.

History of 360 J

Here is the link for a recent thread on the history of the 360J that provides some information.

The biggest concern I would see with the Ti cylinder would be if the added length of the .357 cylinder would work with the .38 only version of the 360J.

You had to make me check, didn't you? :) I visually compared the cylinders on my 360PD, 337Ti, 340PD. (Where did all those J-frames in the safe come from!!?? :D) The cylinders are all the same length. The frames also seem to be the same length, with minute variations due to the thicker magnum top straps and cutouts in the fixed sight "trench."

Well Smith told me that they don't have any 38 spl. Titanium cyl. and won't fit a 357 to it because it's marked 38 spl , I asked since it doesn't say +P is it rated for them they said yes as long as they are SAMI spec. They did tell me it was made in April of 2015 . I've thought of sending it to TK Custom but they say no +P or Mil Spec.and all I have is +P and MIL Spec. so I'll pass for now on that maybe someday when ammo is readily available again

It's an interesting variant. I would leave it in its original configuration/caliber. YMMV, of course. :) Interesting sidelight: my 342Ti in .38 Spl actually kicks harder than my 340s, both the PD and M&P versions.

Do you still have that gun and if so, how has it worked out sir??? Would love to hear how it has been working unless you sold it...

Yes. I still own it. It is in the carry rotation with A LOT of other revolvers and does not get too much use. That's true for all of them. But, it certainly has a few hundred rounds down range to test the cylinder swap. It makes a very light carry piece. Would do this again if cylinders become available.
