Hello all, I'm interested in this Mod 29 on GB, and have noticed It has not sold despite numerous auction attempts. The third pic down seems to show daylight between the barrel/frame, can this be normal ? worth $650 ?, thanks!

I believe the gap is normal.
Posting links to live auctions if highly frowned upon.

Edited to say, in the Classifieds. Not sure about other sections.

why is posting a link to a live auction frowned upon? It seems like that person had a legit question and needed some help....not as if it was used to advertise or anything.

Some of my revolvers have that gap, others don't. The widest gap is on my 696; I can slip a Post-It between the frame and the ejector rod shroud when the cylinder is open. Guns look better when there is no gap -- but that doesn't mean I am always conscious of the separation the first time I handle a revolver.

Don,t mean to cause controversy, but the barrel looks as if it has backed-out. $650 could be an expensive mistake. Hey Ladder 13, I'm E221.

I have seen that 29-3 on auction run for months. I think the reason its still up for auction is the price, which is high for a 29-3, although would be about right price-wise for a 29-2. To me, that -3 is a $525-550 gun max.

No controversy at all. My post was meant to help not scold, I'm not a moderator.
You work in Brooklyn? I retired from a suburban dept just north of the Bronx.

I'm in SoCal, which explains why $650 would be an attractive price for me............

To me the biggest drawback would be having to drive up to Santa Clara (TWICE) from southern California !

Seller has solid feedback. However, gun is overpriced and $60 for shipping is high. I can ship from an FFL for $40 ($20 for transfer and $20 for USPS Priority Mail).

+1 I always wondered about this. It's not like it is competing with this forum. It is all for the gun lovers I thought but I am old and do not know much.....I guess

Folks,
It is against our policy to post links to live auctions. This has been a problem in the past, and we try to catch these things so as to keep them from becoming issues.

jpage,
Appreciate your interest in understanding the barrel gap, in the future please just post information on the auction site and auction number instead of a live link.

So the consensus is that the gap is excessive ?

My opinion is that it's normal, or maybe a better way to say it is that it's normally seen, there's nothing functionally wrong with it.
