I've seen some info. on being able to shoot 45 acp's out of the 460 revolver. Can this be done...any harm to gun and where can moon clips be found? Thanks

Haven't heard that one but there may be a moon clip out there for it.

What's the diameter of the 460 vs. the 45acp?

I would totally get the 460 if this is true. That means you could shoot four different cartridges.

In short, no.

Without a moon clip the cartridge would just fall into the charge holes, and there is not clearance for a clip. The gun could be cut for moon clips, but then you couldn't shoot the .460 because of greatly excessive headspace.

I found this online...

http://www.moonclips.com/content/460.htm

But I don't think I'd want to machine my cylinder...

Could one shoot 45AR from a 460? Or would the rims be excessively thick, causing the cartridges to rub against the recoil shield, thereby locking the cylinder?

If you must, you could trim .460 ammunition to .45 ACP length. Use .45 ACP loading information.
While I shoot .22 shorts out of my 17-2 on occasion, either because of training or the range won't allow anything bigger, not worth the time and expense for your revolver.
