327 TRR8 problem
At our USPSA match today, I had a problem.
Sometimes when I pulled the trigger, the cylinder would advance, but the hammer didn’t come back. Obviously, no ignition.
This is the first time I’ve had any issues with my TRR8.
Any suggestions? I’m a noob when it comes to the mechanics of revolvers.
I’ll add that it was 35 to 40 degrees today.
Thanks!

This condition has happened to me on IIRC 2 of my lightweight J-frame revolvers. The sideplate screws had worked loose, but not visibly so. Tightening these screws (but not excessively) solved the problem. Don't know the whys, but maybe it'll work for you. Hoping it does!

Thanks for that; I’ll take a look. In much warmer conditions today, I was able to reproduce the action by limiting the release of the trigger after the first click and pulling it through again. I’m thinking it’s sticky stuff inside that got stickier in the cold.
I’ll post an update when I get a chance to open it up.

Well, it was a bit gummy inside. I cleaned it out and applied a bit of oil. We’ll see what happens!

Usually a function of the trigger finger not allowing the trigger to fully return forward. Not helped by light springs and attempting to "go fast".
Easily replicated (with the revolver unloaded) by slowly releasing and then pulling back on the trigger before it gets fully forward. In fact you can cycle through multiple times once you get the hang of it.
Usual solution is to just train your finger to fully return forward. Dry firing works well here.

Yes, I know that. Even with the trigger completely released, the internals didn’t reset multiple times in a row. The gunk inside was too viscous to allow it to happen. While it was still cold, it was repeatable. Now that it’s clean (and warm), it works like a champ.
