There are a few good threads regarding these case colored classic series revolvers. Have not seen one in a while. Found this in the safe this evening and remembered how much I like the look with Herrett’s Shooting Ace grips.

Any other case colored revolvers out there? Anybody carry one? I have carried this a time or two. Not often.

I Love Color Case Hardened firearms. I have quote a few of the ones Smith & Wesson produced in Conjunction with Lew Horton Distributors as part of the Heritage series. These began production around 2001

The Group photo has some Color Case Hardened Model 25s chambered in 45 Long Colt lying next to their matching serial numbered Model 17s :)

Then there were the Ed McGivern Specials. 6" Model 15s produced in honor of his shooting feats with revolvers back in January of 1934. These were offered in Blue, Nickel and Color Case Hardened. The Factory Nickel from about this point forward is some of the best I have ever seen

I do not have one of the Model 36s, missed out on one of the 3" 36s not too long ago. I wanted the snubby. However, I do have a modern Model 15 that is Color Case Hardened. It always gets some stares when I set it out

And it is not just Smith & Wessons that have beautiful Color Case Hardened firearms

This Centennial Edition Kimber Honors the 100th Anniversary of the 1911

Just last week, I took delivery of a Browning BL-22 that has been Color Case Hardened. It is sitting in the living room waiting for me to photograph

Then of course there are all the old Cowboy guns that are Color Case Hardened, I was just sticking to more Modern stuff for this thread

NCBeagle, it looks superb, when were these manufactured? Were they specially done for a distributor or just a standard S&W offering?

Larry, I am not sure. I believe it was early 2000s (maybe 2007-2009?). I’ll pull out the box later today. Should have the info. I bought the gun used, about 3 years ago. Somebody else may chime in with the answer.

Colt_saa, glad that you joined the thread. I have enjoyed your contributions to the other case hardening threads and reread some this evening. Impressive collection.

Thanks for the kind words

I have just been lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time

The one I really regret walking away from, over a small sum of money, is one of the Color Case Hardened Centennials.

Some beautiful guns in this thread! OP, the grips on that gun are perfection. I only have one handgun with more than just the hammer and trigger being case hardened. I might have gone overboard the other way, but I love it.:)

Very nice 1911.

I have been thinking about doing a 38 SUPER or 9x23 Winchester in a 5" 1911

I was going to just have the slide Color Case Hardened and do a blue to the frame, but looking at yours, I may have the entire gun done

I passed up buying a Model 10 case hardened revolver several years ago. Not to repeat the mistake twice, I bought a Model 24-5 that is unfired with box, etc., last year.

I really like mine. There's something about it being the same finish all over just seems right to me. I really like that where the metal is checkered on the MSH and front strap, you can see the "grain" of the CCH. Kinda like seeing the grain in a set of Ropers. Just appeals to something inside me.:)

Since some of the Smiths in this thread, AFAIK, were not offered in CC, I assume they must have been treated to this finish by some very talented artisans. Does anyone know of anyone currently refinishing Smith revolvers in this manner. Several years ago a cute little Baby Chiefs Spl followed me home. It is in great mechanical shape, the grips could be nicely restored, and all markings are sharp, but the blue is about gone. Imagine a color cased Baby Chiefs Spl nestled in a custom made walnut display case with Royal Blue lining, an ammo block, and appropriate accessories. A worthy inheritance for my niece that I can also enjoy for a while (I hope).

ALL of the Color Case Hardened revolvers pictured here are factory original.

Most all of the runs were 200 pieces or less
