Just picked up a "new-to-me" Model 65-4 and can't seem to find much information on a ship date. Serial number is BPR6207.

If anyone has any idea what the abbreviation SCICT may stand for I'd love to hear it. I'm pretty good at Google searches but haven't been able to turn anything up on the law enforcement turn-in.

Thank you!

Was that a recent guns.com purchase? If so are u happy with it? I himmed and hawed all weekend about one of their 65-4s but didn’t pull the trigger. Lol pun intended

SCI is the importer, CT is where they are. 13 might be a number put there by SCI or it may have been put there by a previous owner, but it's not part of the serial number. I got a 65-5 from them, finally getting around to picking it up tomorrow. How's yours look? Let's see it!

Yes, it's a guns.com purchase. Picked it up this morning. Came in a very nice hard case labeled guns.com. It is extremely clean. Cylinders and bore appear as virtually unused. Everything that is supposed to be tight seems plenty tight. A couple slightly buggered side-plate screws (already on order).

This 65-4 shows little signs of being used much. I can't seem to find an importer, in Connecticut or otherwise, that uses SCI as an acronym unless it's Safari Club International and there is a Central Connecticut chapter. No other import, or export, or proof marks anywhere and the number 13 also appears on the frame under the front of the cylinder on the left side as well as on the butt after the serial number. A rack number? Guns.com says it's a law enforcement "trade-in" or "turn-in" and I'm open to it being from outside the US just can't see much evidence of that. Help!

I added the Herretts: it came with decent Pachmayr grips. Some light scratches but all-in-all seems well worth what they're asking.

i just p/u my second 65-4. this one is also in excellant shape as was the first one. when they lowered the price, i coul't pass it up. damn good deal. i'm very happy with both guns..

I bought a new model 65 3". I replaced the rear sight with a fixed one. I am very happy with it.

A long shot here, when I did prisoner transports (Pennsylvania) one of the prisons I went to was State Correctional Institution, Coal Township. Paperwork had SCICT.

Thank you gp52555! That may be a "long shot" but makes perfect sense. I've read, in several places, prisons are/were among the last to trade in their revolvers for semi-autos and I'd been wondering about how many law enforcement agencies still had/have revolvers to trade in. It also may explain how little wear and tear appears on this Model 65 as I presume handguns racked at a correctional institution may see relatively less use than if carried by a police officer. I really appreciate the information!

Pennsylvania keeps coming up, I received a 65-5 and it has SCIG stamped on the side plate with 35 just below that, the only thing I got when I searched that made sense was State Correctional Institution Graterford, in Pennsylvania.

I think gp52555 nailed it!
I just received two of the 65-4s from guns.com. Both have the BPR prefix and rather discreet electro-penciled IDs on the bottom of the frame just in front of the trigger guard... "SCI-A 18" and "SCI-A 19". Following the theory from above, that could be Pennsylvania's State Correctional Institute - Albion. Low and behold, upon pulling the Pachmayrs I discovered more electro-penciling on the bottom of the grip frames "SCI" and "Albion". Good call. Great to know where these did their tour of duty. Thanks for the tip.
