Mr. ezb, I have the same question on the buffing. Why was the Sn. area so heavily buffed. I cant see if the engraving was touched. Eyes are not that keen anymore.

That is not Factory engraving.
To me, the frame appears to be raw aluminum with no finish.
With the heavy buffing that is obvious on the serial number, my guess is someone took a well worn gun, buffed it, shaped the tang, engraved it, nickeled the slide and left the frame raw.

Lee, good analysis. If the slide is nickeled , it sure does not look like factory nickeling. Or even bumper nickel.
