Gentleman Jim Model 39-2

From my notes have:
Model 39-2 Blue, Serial A194274  Shipped  May 1973 which is early enough to have many of the carry over features from the previous revision.

My guess is yours probably has those same early features such as the hole in the hammer spur, fully enclosed barrel bushing, the safety lever that sits closer to the frame, the early magazine release button.
Wondering if your magazine followers are the older style metal figure 8 or new black plastic?

The mag follower changed to black plastic in the A180K to A200K Snr. The base plate should be 1line and 1.5" long.
Is your gun blue or nickel?

Gun is blue. The floor plate on the magazine is too long for my large hands. I there any place where I could find a replacement. Or a magazine with a different base plate?

The factory magazine base plate should extend beyond the bottom edge of the receiver just enough to grab it if it does not fall free when the magazine release button is depressed. If your magazine has a base plate that extends well beyond the front edge of the receiver, it may be an aftermarket magazine. Genuine S&W magazines will also have "S&W" stamped into the bottom of the base plate.

Found the issue with the mags. The two that came with the gun are not factory mags. Likely pro mags. I bought two factory mags and they are fine. Anybody out there that may have some extra factroy mags I would be interested.. Thanks, Jim

I know of two aftermarket manufacturers of magazines for the S&W Models 39/39-2/x39 pistols, ProMag and Triple K. Neither match the quality nor reliability of the genuine S&W magazines, I speak from my own experience with my Model 439.
