It looks like they might have over polished the side plate. The edges look a bit rounded and the seam seems more pronounced. I've heard the side plate should be buffed in place not off the gun to avoid that.
That being said I didn't see the gun before it was sent to Fords. Other than my above comment I think it looks quite nice. The color case hardening is very appealing though again it may have looked that good already. All in all I like it!
This is the second Fords refinish I've seen in the last few weeks on here and other than the great lustrous blueing and beautiful case hardening, I just can't unsee that side plate seem being overbuffed. The pre 10 snub the other week had the same look as well.
As long as you're happy with it that's all that matters, please share a before pic if you're inclined.
Didn't think to take before pics. Actually, I'm happy with the sideplate. A very light orange rust was forming in the seam when I sent it in. Also very light surface freckling starting to form on entire frame (no pitting).
I have a 29 snub I wouldn't mind sending in.
That was a great job on that Jovino! I especially like the color case hardening that they did. (Amazing)
I would be happy!
Here's another opinion. The side plate treatment is exactly like the rest of the revolver...slightly rounded/softened. It's not like they come from the factory but I don't think that's what they were going for.
Personally, I like it.
