New M&P 340….I’m excited
I’ve wanted this since I sold my 640 years ago. I really liked that 640, but it was heavy.
So, I picked up a 340 off Gunbroker for a decent price. Unfortunately, when it came, the front sight was misset, so it is going to S&W.
Looking for a holster. I ordered the Phlster Enigma…what do you carry in? I’m looking to carry in gym shorts and other light clothing.. That can be a challenge.
Sorry, pics when I get it back.

I almost never carry my 340PD except during the winter, in a coat pocket, in an Uncle Mike’s pocket holster - mostly just to protect the gun. It works fine. I have never been able to carry any pistol bigger than an LCP in my pants pockets, and don’t care much to do that. A gun the size of a Chief’s Special I prefer to wear in a belt holster whenever possible.
Congrats on your 340 M&P. Hope S&W gets it fixed up for you quickly. They’ll check over everything else, so sending it back for the repair was a good idea.

Awesome choice
I carry a 340pd in an AHolster Backbone or a Mika pocket holster. I also have a Galco ankle glove if the need arises.

Congratulations
My 340s have only been pocket carried
If I am wearing a holster, I can support more weight and carry a 640 instead

I keep it simple. You can carry the 340 PD all day. I hope that it works well for you too.

I believe the M&P 340 has been discontinued while the 340PD remains in the catalog. I actually prefer the M&P for its steel cylinder which allows for a greater range of magnum ammunition, in my case, the 110gr JHP.

Kaaskop49 I believe your correct on the M&P340 being discontinued,I was Smith's site last week and the M&P340 with ILS appears to be discontinued I do believe the no lock M&P340 remains along with the 340PD though. If I read that correctly.
nksmfamjp great gun you have there in the M&P340. I too scored one off of gun broker a couple of weeks ago and it's now my EDC in a Fist kydex IWB appendix holster. I was fortunate enough to find the CT model with the crimson Trace 405 laser grips from the factory as well. My next purchase is going to be a 340PD W/ green Hi-Viz front sight.
I've owned a couple of 340PD's in the past one at the same time as my last M&P340. I love both J frames for different reasons. The PD because to me it has a cool factor all its own,and it is I believe 3oz lighter? But to me the M&P340 has the better sights from the factory and the PVD coated stainless cylinder has no restrictions as to what type of 357 magnum ammo can be used And it can be cleaned and cared for like My other normal revolver cylinder.at this point I've owned property over a dozen J frame models and my two favorites are the 340 variants also because the centennials are my favorite followed by the bodyguard "humpbacks" as a close second. Here's a couple of pics of my M&P340. Also congrats again on your new gun.

I've been carrying an M&P340 for a few years (not sure how many exactly). It is super easy to carry and conceal. I firmly believe that the best carry weapon is the one that's so easy to carry you will have it with you. I've met too many guys who claim to carry big high cap pistols but most of the time they don't have it on them because they don't have the right clothes on to hide it. The pic below is my preferred carry option. Easy to carry and re-holster, hides well and no comfort issues when driving. Yes, I know it's not being worn as intended. Works for me.

I have its two cousins. A 442 and 340pd, I love black Centenials. Like @colt-saa said above they mostly get pocket carried. If I’m putting on a belt holster I’m carrying a little bigger gun.
My 442 has Barami hip grips and the 340pd Crimson Trace grips with the gel pad soak up the recoil of .357’s.

I appendix carry mine in a bianchi leather iwb holster. Unfortunately I can’t remember the model because the gun smooshed that stamping smooth. But it’s pretty simple, just a leather holster with a metal clip that hooks over your belt or waistband. And in a pinch you can throw it in a pocket.

Mine is the no lock. This is my only new S&W made after 1985. Wow! Parts look a little different under the side plate. It was also funny that the side plate cam with a slight screw ding and slight mark at the mating.

Take your carry weapon into the dressing room to make sure that the jeans are worth buying.

Thanks for all the responses! You folks are great. I have a couple questions maybe you can help with…..
What is the black finish on the revolver? Anodizing? DLC?
How long do you think it will take S&W to put a front sight on it and send it back?
If you use the Enigma, any tips on public restroom usage you can share?

L.L. Bean jeans used to have pockets deep enough to carry/conceal a J-frame in a pocket rig. The last 2 pairs I bought recently however have slightly shallower pockets. Going to have to try them out with the holstered gun around the house to see if I can use them.

I pocket carry my 340PD in a Hume pocket holster which fits operfectly in my dress pant or jeans front pocket. I walk a lot and I also carry it in the same holster but in the back pocket of my jeans which leaves the grip exposed and a full finger draw. Tee shirt out and nobody knows it is there.
AIWB, it is a Sideguard minimalist but also look at Garrett which are leather lined kydex.
You made a great choice.

I love my M&P 340! I carry it mostly in a pocket Sticky Holster. As for jeans, I'm way to old for skinny jeans, so I wear the Duluth Trading jeans. I can pack either the 340 or a SIS 365SAS in my front pocket.
