The classic series was just left over parts gun and pretty much just laser etched performance center on it. Nothing special about it. I owned one several years back. It was a 3 inch. It was what you mentioned to make it more appealing. It was not an actual true performance center worked over gun with special features..

They were not Performance Center firearms is the traditional sense
However, those various Parts Guns were assembled by the Performance Center gun smiths from parts that were manufactured on the production side of the house
