My New EDC Setup S&W 640 Pro Series
Well, after carrying 1911's and semi-autos the past 25 years since I have has my CCW, I have deiced to start carrying a revolver again. I bought a nice S&W 640 Pro Series with a trigger action job and crimson trace laster grips. The last time I carried one was way back in the early 2000 timeframe when I had a S&W Lew Horton Pocket Rocket 357 which I really liked.
I not going to get into the ammo capacity argument, I feel perfectly comfortable with a five shot revolver and I was pleasantly surprised on how well I shoot the 640 Pro. I use a Desantis pocket holster and carry two extra speed strips, currently using Hronady CD S38SPL+P.

The 642 is my EDC. I keep it unholstered in my front pocket. It's always there and easy to carry. If I had it to do over again, I'd get the 640 Pro.

Great little revolvers. I had one that I ankle carried for a few years until my daughter relieved me of it. I had tried to steer her towards my 342, but she wasn’t having any of it. She loves that little gun.

The 640 is a fine centennial. Thanks for sharing yours.
The pocket rocket was a .356TSW caliber gun, a Model 940.

My edc is also a 640. I carry it mostly in my front pocket in a Mika holster. It's loaded with the Speer Short Barrel 135 grain Gold Dots. I feel very well protected with it. Congratulations on your choice.

I EDC a 640-1 and it's traveled with me coast to coast many times.
I own 5 640s, a no-dash, 3 640-1s, and a 640-1 Pro. 2 are from the Centerfire dump a few years back, one MIM and one forged internals.
I carry the forged Centerfire, I have shot the Pro, but the 2 Centerfires cost me as much as the Pro.

I carry a 640-1 when I need to carry without a coat or jacket. Mine rides in a DeSantis pocket holster. I firmly believe that 5 shots carried in my pocket beats 13 shots left at home.

Nice setup, I agree with your assessment of capacity as I have several j-frames I carry. The latest is the 640pro. And with the smooth action, it really is easy to get the accuracy that is hard to get from most j-frames. Love how I can consistently stage the trigger too. But obviously I'm no marksman, and this is a 10yd. target.

J frame, K frame, Glock or 1911...
Practice and train with what you carry and I have found that most handguns are accurate and capable at defensive distances.
Your 640 Pro is a great choice for carry and thanks for sharing!!

I’ve owned and carried one part time for a few years now especially during “heavy coat season” here in Michigan. And I also love the grooved CTC grips and of course a Bob Mika pocket holster.

Why not use a pocket holster?
