Cross posting this from another website:

Someone pointed out this forum, and I didn't know it existed.
Basically I was hoping to get a little more guidance on a few guns.
An uncle in-law recently passed and his widow asked me to see about selling a few.
Here is what I have seen on various sites that they are selling for, but I don't understand the variation.

629-6 6 inch - these vary from just under 800 to around 1100 bucks. I don't know if they even make them anymore. Has a bunch of speed loaders that would go with it.

442-1 - one of his carry guns. one of the wildest variances- as little as 300 and as much as 800 bucks.

629-6 4 inch - seen 750 to 1100

60-14 - 400-700

686-6 4 inch -750-900

My intent is to list them on another website but are any of these better off going to an online auction for the exposure?

They all have boxes and original accessories/papers.
Is there anything I should look for that would either point me to the higher end or lower end of the ranges?

Thanks for the help. not much of a wheel gun person.

Everything depends on condition, model, and to an extent, collectability. A piece in like new condition will bring new (or better) price. That same piece showing a lot of wear and tear will only bring a fraction of that. Without seeing them it's going to be tough to get an accurate value. May I suggest posting several pics of each on this site and asking the guys for their opinion? There are experts on here that'll give you good advice.

Those are listed prices, correct? Is there a way to get access to what some of those guns actually sold for? The 629-6 four inch and the 686-6 four inch guns with boxes, etc., I would consider for me personally under $900 in good condition; not necessarily safe queens, just good shooters. Sure would like to see pictures. Good luck with your quest.

You should search on gunbroker by completed auctions with multiple bids to get a realistic value. Also click the gun to see if it was re listed.

Your price ranges seem reasonable other than $800 for a 442. Condition makes a big difference and boxes help a bit.

You really should shoot that 686 before sending it off.

I doubt you'll get higher values on those S&Ws than this website. Gunbroker is the most popular auction site but I'm not sure common guns like those will make that much difference.

Thanks for the input.
I just got my hands on them this weekend, and haven't had a chance to take pictures yet.
I was just getting the model numbers.

As for listing here, I wasn't sure since I just joined, type thing.
I will try to get pictures as I can and post them as I put it together.
Those were mostly selling prices on GB or other sites.
I tried not to take into account crazy asking prices. I get that you can ask whatever you want. lol.

not enough time to do them all, so will post as I can.
here is the 4 inch 629-6

anything else that is important to show?

Myself and others have noticed that Model 29s and 27s advertised on Guns Intl are priced,in many cases, several hundred dollars less than they were a couple years ago. I have gotten some fantastic deals lately. Many dealers will bent over backwards to get rid of old Smiths. Why the downturn, I have no idea. I bought an unfired five inch 27 for $1700,free shipping, and an early 1956 four inch pre 29 for $2300. Saw a nice 5 screw pre 29 in black wooden box for $2700

Guns International has many dealers with reasonable asking prices. After checking gunbroker, I check there. Some dealers have crazy asking prices, many reasonable, some good deals and some really good deals.

your guns for sale

I think you have to have 25 posts on here to sell. so get busy posting and sell them on here. Take only Postal Money orders for payment then both are protected from Fraud. Good luck. that 29-6 looks almost new

are these pictures good enough for selling? or is there some other part I need to show in these pictures.

Those pictures are pretty good. I suggest you list them with those photos and tell prospective buyers if they want more you will take them.

Thanks. listed them at starting prices in the for sale section.
