Picked up this model 438 airweight today. I like the shrouded hammer which allows for single action. I also like the matte black finish. DA trigger pull is definitely more than 9lbs while SA pull is around 3lb. Can’t wait to put some rounds down range this week.

My 438 goes everywhere

I’ve been carrying a 438 for years, usually in a paddle holster but rides in a Galco shoulder holster in the winter.
Also have it outfitted with crimson trace grips.

Are you an ND fan? I have been since a little peewee. Have you done any spring work to reduce the DA trigger pull? I am thinking about the APEX Tactical JFrame spring kit.

I inherited a 638. I wished it was the 438 because I like the Black J-Frames better. I always say you can’t pick a wrong J-Frame.

The deal I made for this 438 was a bit lucky (timing wise), but fortunate for me. I read several reviews and watched several videos on the J Frames and decided on the shrouded hammer. Visited 2 guns shows and saw a few new and used 638's. I then decided to check an online site I frequent. And there it was ... a listing still valid after 60 days. How lucky can you get!!
