Default Model 624 3" price check...your opinions?

About 20 years ago, I walked into my LGS and spotted this 3" 624.

It looked like it had been fired and then tossed on a shelf somewhere and forgotten about. There was no rust, but it was filthy, and it was blotchy and tarnished in places. The finish on the grips was flaking off. There was no box or papers with it. The serial number is AHS15XX. I'm fairly certain it's a Lew Horton gun.

When I got it home, I disassembled it and cleaned it thoroughly. Alas, the only way to remove the tarnish on the steel was to polish it out; I used Simichrome and a soft cloth, and with a lot of patience and elbow grease, removed the tarnish...and the original finish on the steel. (It does look beautiful, though...)

I took the grips to a friend who has a furniture refinishing business, and had him strip them. I then gave them several coats of oil.

I have fired this revolver only once or twice, and I'm thinking of selling it, or offering it for trade. What do you guys figure it's worth?

Thanks for your opinions.

One in about the same condition as yours when you bought it just sold online for $748, but I think that is a low price. Hard to say what yours might be worth given the non-original but restorable metal finish.

On Gunbroker the price would range from $1200-$1500.

The price Alan quotes does seem a little low, but I think prices are generally down. I gave $1250 for mine in 2020, but it did come with the black leather S&W holster still in the bag and a Letter of Authenticity from Lew Horton (not sure how much that matters). It does have a nice set of factory combats. You can always check completed sales on GB -
