S&W CUSTOMER SERVICE was zero help.
Can’t find snakes nor bore brushes for this (just like ammo).

Anyone: use .380 or .38 for this .32?
Thank you

Thank you

Thank you. Why couldn’t S&W CUSTOMER RELATIONS just tell me that?
Once more thank you

Most of them are probably hired because of their ability to talk to people, not knowledge of guns. They will pick up information about S&W's products, but the breadth of knowledge will likely be limited to S&W's mass market products (M&P pistols and ARs, Shield, .38/357 J-frames, etc).

~.30 cal handguns have been fairly niche in the USA for a long time due to the market dominance of .38 Special revolvers and .45 ACP and 9x19mm semi autos. I wouldn't expect most gun owners to know that much off the top of their heads about .32 S&W Long (considered long obsolescent) or .32 H&R Mag (considered a bit of a market dud) either.

With the rifle brushes, just make sure that they're short enough so that you can push them completely through the barrel to the open part of the frame.

You could otherwise stick with bore snakes, but they may not be enough if you shoot a lot of lead ammo.

If i may ask one more question about the cylinder. With it not being steel can i use hard (with brass)snakes& bore brushes?
I had a 317kit.22 and was told never use brass snakes or bore brushes.
Thank you for your time.

Smith does not manufacture or sell cleaning supplies, why would you expect them to know who makes what you need?

In less time than it took you to dial the phone number, you can type "32 cal bore snake" and have a link to purchase one from Amazon.

The UC guns have steel cylinders like the vast majority of centerfire J-frames, so brass brush away.

.30 caliber boresnake and other cleaning supplies have always worked well for me for all .32 caliber rounds, semi auto or revolver.

Same, but I'm a fancy boy and use an 8mm most of the time. ;) I mean, it's European! :D

Heck, I've been buying & shooting guns since 1974. Worked gun shops and/or shows for over 30 years. I know a little about a wide variety of guns.

But I couldn't have told you about which bore brush or rod to use in a .327 caliber because I have NO experience in that caliber.

But a GOOD CS person would've taken your phone # & researched it, found a good answer & called you back. But that person is 1 in 10,000, IMO.

Don't know who told you that, but it's incorrect.

Maybe they meant to say steel brushes, I don't know. But brass is good to go in any cylinder.

I have a 617-2 (alloy cylinder) & have used nothing but brass on it. No issues.

The person you talked to probably isn't a shooter and has never cleaned a revolver in his life! Just because he works for S&W doesn't mean he has any knowledge about cleaning their products.
