Holster for Model 10
Hello Smith and Wesson fans. I am looking for a leather belt holster for a 4 inch model 10 with heavy barrel.
Any makers out there? I looked at simply rugged and that is a possibility. Looking to see if there are other makers.

I like the Simply Rugged holsters. I've got a couple. One for my J frames, the other for my K frames. They work well, they hold the gun tight to my body, but uncomfortably so. The K frames conceal well also, especially during the cooler months.

You might check Lobo Gun Leather or El Paso Saddelry.

Absolutely every company that makes holsters makes one for the K-Frame S&Ws! If you have a local gun shop they probably will have at least one style in-stock! Do you have a Cabela's, Bass Pro Shops, Shooters World or Sportsman's Warehouse in your community?

I am local to simply rugged - Rob ( owner) is a great guy and makes great holsters.
Having said that, honestly go to any gun shop or show and look through those “anything in the box $10” junk bins. I have found some real gems in such boxes, and model 10 holsters are so common, you are likely to find what you need cheap. The hunt is half the fun

I still use a Bianchi 5BHL that i bought in the 1980s. Along with others, but that one is default for 4" K frames.

Best holster on the market are the ones from Bullard Leather. Quality WAY exceeds cost. I have 5-6 of theirs.
Another is Craft Holsters. Excellent shoulder holsters, FWIW. I have two of theirs.
I've been buying holsters for close to 40 years now. I've learned a few things, almost all by error.
Skip the $30 holsters. Those are only for safe storage. The top name holsters (Galco, Bianchi, etc) are too often over-priced for what you pay, IMO.
First thing you need to do is to get a decent sized storage tote. This will store all your extra holsters you're going to have within a couple of years................

I have a HB model 64-5. I found a almost unused A.E. Nelson #85 black leather with pattern on front and LEFT handed at a gun show for $25 . Plus it was made for a bobbed hammer. Wouldn't not snap over the hammer. The only reason I bought it was I didn't bring my 64, but the seller had a 64-3 on his table.
These are very high quality holsters too. Being left handed it's hard if not impossible to find things in stock

If you want something inexpensive but good quality, you may want to look at Bulldog holsters at a sporting goods store near you. You won't win any beauty contests with a black nylon holster, but they are pretty secure. And the straps are, of course, adjustable. It may be heresy, but Ruger sells quite a few in the online "Ruger Store". Different gun, but I found a nice 6" holster that's made for the 6" GP100 that fits my 629-6; these are virtually the same physical sized guns. Now, if you want a nice holster and have some time to wait for quality, 6-12 months, maybe, which isn't bad for the one I got, but don't be afraid to check out Barranti Holsters/Leather products online. I can't remember, but I think they may have had some popular ones already made up...don't quote me. I have found nice used ones for sale right here on the Forum Classified Section. I found a couple of those old school basket weave holsters that look like they came from some old black & white TV show.
For a heavy barrel M10, one made for the SP101 Ruger may fit.

First question, what do you want a holster for, ECD, concealed carry, out in the wild, range use?
Don Hume makes a good holster at a reasonable price. Last time I looked they were having a sale on most of their holsters.
