I purchased a new 632 titanium model today and I noticed that the front sight seems off to the right. I looked at barrel and it appears to be off center. I don’t know if this is normal or if I’m being too picky.

Also while comparing it to my original 632 UC I noticed that Smith and Wesson put a different (wrong) barrel when they replaced it to repair the bad letting on the barrel.

sure looks like it to me as well. Send it back man. You won't be happy unless you do.

I just purchased it today so I will take it back to the gun store tomorrow and let them ship it back to Smith and Wesson.

Thanks for the info.

My 617’s barrel is crookeder (is that a word? lol) than that.

My opinion, which doesn’t matter, is that it’s close enough.

I'm gonna wait a while on one of those. To be clear, it's the shroud that's cocked, right?

You're being too picky. Have you shot it? Shoots to POA?

On guns with the two-piece barrel the barrel shroud is aligned by a lug on the frame engaging a notch in the shroud. There is nothing can be done to correct alignment of the shroud because of this. What you have is purely cosmetic and is not covered by the S&W warrantee.

If you send it back to S&W all you will accomplish is being without the gun for several weeks and it will be returned to you exactly as it is now!

One of the supposed advantages of the 2 piece barrel was to ensure that it would be centered on the frame. I had an M&P340 that was like that and I sent it back. It's one of the things that I check on a new revolver before I purchase.
Was at the gun show last weekend looking for a Ruger Match Champion. There was 1 there and it's barrel was even more crooked.

I used a bore laser which I used with all my J frame to adjust the Crimson laser grips. All of the laser grip dots are just below the front sights when using the sights expected for 632 Ti which is left and low.

It might be cosmetic but when you pay top dollar for something you want it to be prefect.

My SWAG in this case is that the decorative "swoop" cut at the top front of the frame was either cut or, more likely, deburred/machine mark removal "polish" done off square. The front sight looked pretty centered rotationally.

That's what I was driving at but didn't have the heart to say it. I agree with you, it is what is. I'd verify that it shot to the sights, consider myself lucky if it did and keep it. It's a tool, not a trophy. I know that sounds harsh but if that gun saves your life just one time, it'll be worth what you paid, cocked barrel shroud and all.

Its just a misalignment from the factory.

S&W has the correct tools to remove the two piece barrel and inspect the alignment notch and lug to check for burrs or mis-machining. If they are any 'good' at all they should be able to correct this issue easily.

If the frame is mis-machined hard fix, frame would need to be replaced. If its the shroud then just a new shroud would be an easy repair.

Common problem from S & W nowadays.

My 432UC-Ti came with an immaculate trigger (and without the brown/flaking anodizing problems of the other 432UC I have).

But I noticed the front sight was canted pretty bad. Harder to notice due to the round frontsight/rear U notch - but I noticed it and can't unsee it.

Sent mine back to Smith until they get it right.

My 02 cents only.......

If you paid for the revolver, which I'm sure you did, then S&W has an obligation to provide you with a Quality Equal to Investment product and they have not. Their attitude now seems to be to let the purchaser provide the "Quality Control" and they will make it right if the purchaser complains of something not right. This is unacceptable and should never occur but its business as usual now. To me its embarrassing that anyone is required to endure this for the prices they are now charging from a Firearms Company that has lived/relied on producing the highest quality product possible. Having made the preceding statement, that may be the case!
