Ok, I know you're asking, "Which one?" The man probably owns hundreds.

There seems to be one gun in particular that Mr. Miculek does most of His speed shooting with. I think it must be chambered in 45ACP because it appears he is using moonclips. The gun in question has a medium length barrel that doesn't even look like it matches the rest of the gun. The cylinder looks solid with no reliefs between chambers. Any info on the gun would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Chad

There have been at LEAST two models of .45 ACP. Jerry Miculek Specials. I have seen both 5" and 4" (a look in the S&W "Bible" will give you that information - I don't have mine here).

I have the 4" and it is a wonderful revolver. It is extremely accurate. It is a 625-8.

I also have a 5" "standard" 625-6. The JM Special has a couple of differences. It has the JM Grips and a finger changeable front sight. The action is just a touch smoother. The action differences are slight.

I shoot one about as well as the other. I can not truthfully say which I like better. I will probably put 5000 rounds through the pair of them this year based on last years use.
I believe that Jerry uses the 5" the most - recoil recovery would be a bit faster with the longer barrel.

However, that man could shoot winning scores with a sling shot - he has had a truly remarkable career.

Jerry is one amazing guy. Anyone can become a decent shot with effort and lots of practice but to do what he does requires natural aptitude along with massive amounts of dedicated practice. Don

I have the 625GM-628-8 model, I love this pistol, I shoot light loads of bullseye with a 200g lcswc, and it shoots little holes at 25yards, very accurate pistol.

Jerry has several guns he does speed shooting with. If you have ever watched him at the IRC, he uses an 8-shot 627. For some of his demonstrations, he uses a 625. Jerry is great with all of the guns he shoots.

On the sharpshooters series on History channel he shoots one that looks like a Performance Center model. Probably the 627 8 shot unfluted model.

At the Second Chance Bowling Pin Shoot Jerry used a long-barreled M27.
If I remember correctly, he shot 230 grain .357 Magnums made using .38 cases because the bullet was so long.

One year, after S&W had dropped the team, he shot some Clark .45 autos.
The next year he was back to the M27.

I didn't know how good I had it when Second Chance was only eight hours away and Jerry, Jerry Barnhardt, Brian Enos, Ken Tapp, and a whole bunch of other Masterblasters attended every year.

just info.was reading some stuff about Jerry's pistols.he likes his trigger pull on the stiff side.think most of his run 10#. jwr

ACP230,
Jerry shot an H&G 230gr WC in 38 spl cases loaded with Blue Dot. I got my MB patch in 90 or maybe 91 using that load in my L frames. He used M27's for his shooting. That was a special place and time for shooting and I was there for 17 years worth of matches.

Maxw: I've never seen a 230grain wadcutter in 38 Caliber. Could you post a pic or direct me to a web site where it could be observed.

I'm interested in heavy bullets for my 586.

I don't know about his trigger pull, but I know he uses an OVERPOWERED trigger return spring. I mean hugely overpowered. Apparently, it is very important when shooting at his speed to have the trigger return as fast as possible. It is my understanding that some revovler mechanisms are not capable of operating fast enough for Jerry's blinding speed. The S&W action allows for it with a super powered trigger return spring.

I used a factory rebound spring when shooting pins to insure trigger return during recoil.

I was watching his DVD over the weekend and noticed his 625 had the older style rear sight. The long one with the squared off front, not the current style that is shorter, rounded and fits into a milled notch on the top strap. He also uses a deeper notch on the rear sight and a taller Patridge front sight.

Mr. Miculek came to Oklahoma City's H&H Indoor range - I followed him around most of the day. Just listened a lot, and was first in line as he set-up for his exhibition - I had to find out his "trick" - he has large hands and grips the revolver high, just fast as hell, and painfully accurate. After many hours he finally said, "its not how fast you pull the trigger, but how fast you let off" that was it. He's a gentleman and a genius.

If you go to the S&W site.On the store page half way down on the left side he has 4-5 videos on his style. We all can learn a lot from JERRY JERRY LOL

Does anyone know Jerry's age? Had a difference of opinion at the range the other day and I cant find it yet.
