I too love this particular version of the 627. Of course I love all the 627s. Introduced in 1997 and built on the old frame, and marked 627-PC. The fluted cylinder RJMXXXX is Product code 170089 as previously mentioned by smithnut. In 1998 the same design came out with the unfluted cylinder, Product Code 170116 (BDMXXXX) and the fluted cylinder ported barrel Product Code 170092 (HCPXXXX). All three with the five-inch contoured slab-sided barrel. The 6.5-inch of the same barrel design Product Code 170102 (JMSXXXX) also came out in 1998. Interestingly the Hunter with the heavy "starwars" slab-sided barrel Product code 170095 (LVHXXXX) also came out in 1997 while the UDR 170133 (HMAXXXX) came out in 1999. Also in 1999 the frame was changed to the new CNC frame and given a new model number 627-3, seen on the new run of UDR and the two V-comp models. In 2002 the internal lock was added on the 38 Super 627-4 and we have had the locks ever since on the 627-5s. BTW, I believe the 627, 627-0, 627-1 were all the same 101024 pre-Performance Center editions on the old frame. During the PC editions (pre-lock) non-PC guns were six-shot 627-2s on the new frame. Now this is what I believe based in guns in my collection. There are certainly exceptions, like the 627-3 non PC WISCHO six-shot. I welcome communications with knowledge of other examples (or offers to sell). I hope to publish my paper on pre-lock 627s in the S&WCA Journal later this year.
