Default 340PD Range Ammo

What would be the softest (yes, hands are hurting) ammo to use with this gun for some range time.

38 non +P I assume, but what brand and type of bullet would provide the lease kick for the buck. Strickly for the range, not for carry of course.

Thanks

Bill

+1 on the Win 130's.

You can always make your own...

A 158 Gr. LSWC over 2.8 Gr of Bullseye. Soft shooter, almost no muzzle flip or recoil.

Regards

I load a 125 grain lead round-nosed flat point over 4.0-4.2 grains of 231 or HP-38. This load is right on for my fixed sites pocket guns and low in recoil-- best of all they hit the same POA as my carry loads, real important to me!

"Factory" softest shooter would be 148 grain full wad cutters. At so called "medium velocity" target loading levels. For nearly 3/4 of a century it was the gold standard for target shooters, if the range has any, that is? Some ranges don't allow lead HBWC bullets. And sometimes the one's that do don't carry them. Your wise to steer clear of the high grunt loadings till acclimated to the trigger and sights.

Recoil is pleasant for me when I use Fiocchi 130 grain FMJ's.
