i have instatlled several pair of emblems in ahrends grips for s&w revolvers, and i was just drilling a pilot hole and then using a 3/8 inch spade bit,but the emblems were a little tight and had to be tapped in risking cracking the grips. i still use the spade bit but i turn down the outside of the emblems just enough so they will seat with finger pressure.
i did mine in a metal lathe but the same could be done by chucking the emblem post in an electric drill and use a small file while the drill is turning.
just a dap of jb weld in the back secures the emblems.

they say a 13/32" bit is the proper size....unable to find one locally, I've used a 10mm brad point bit that results in a nice snug fit.

Ronnie,
do ya'll have a woodcraft store down there between newnan and atl? or maybe near columbus? that's where I found the bit I use

Brad bits in 64th increments.

If you want to use a spade bit get a 1/2" bit and sand it down on both sides to get the size that you need.
Better to customize the bit than to have to customize each emblem.

I did this on a belt sander to customize the bit to drill the hole that I put brass rivets in to attach knife handles. Go slow and make sure that there is an equal amount taken off both sides. Sand a little and then cool off in water then sand some more.

These were not Hogue's, but from Kelly's. Very similar to Hogue finger groove grips. I also shortened them. They are on a 24-3. They are RB to SB conversion. I did it on a 1" belt sander, finishing with a 550 grit belt.
