Unless you want color which means paint, I suggest hard chrome. You won't need to refinish it again, ever.

Default scandium?

I believe that the scandium guns were aluminum alloy which was anodized and then given a 'clear coat' finish. I may be wrong, but I don't think that there is much you can do other than live with it. S&W declined to refinish mine (has holster wear)...I believe that the heat treating loses it effectiveness once you try to re-anodize it.

I checked into some of the ceramic coatings, the manufacturer's say it will work on the SC/Ti guns. S&W warned it could void the warranty as mine is NIB I did not do anything (yet). If it starts wearing, I expect I will have it ceramic coated.
