Bullseye, check out this web page. It lists 10-46 taps.
JTS Machinery & Supply Co.
Browse around that site and you might find 10-46 dies too!

I browsed the site a bit more myself and found 10-48 dies but not 10-46. Are you sure you need 10-46 and not 10-48?

Well, shoot! I can't find a 10-46 die anywhere on the internet. 10-48 yes, 10-46 no.
I even looked for a 3/16-46 since 3/16 is the closest fractional size to #10. Again, no luck.
Bullseye, what is the outside diameter of the male screw thread you are dealing with? Does it measure about .190 inches?

You could try MSC Industrial Supply Co. but they do not show a 46 tpi tap, I have made a rod for a Model 29 that a friend had that was twisted off but I had the part to check the threads on, I cant remember if it was lh or rh but it seems like it was lh threads. When I was working we used Manhatten supply for a lot of taps that were hard to find. Jeff

But I am working on a triple lock, very old and not that many made. But the thread was also used on the the hand ejector also. I checked it a dozen times and it is 46 threads.

I also mentioned in a previous post that it was 46 TPI but at a slow Sunday at a show I was reading- Jinks & Neal- revised - and on page 237 this info caught my eye.
May 22 1944 Change extractor thread from S&W .186-47 to N.S.-2 .186-47 (old standards worn out and cannot be duplicated) Lots of info in that book !!

.186-47? My head hurts...
In any case, .183 diameter on the male thread makes it a #10, not a fractional inch size.
