Well of course as we all know the BG's trigger is not only long but hard to the break point!
My Taurus TCP has a much smoother and lighter trigger after 300 rounds.
I have yet to take the BG to the range but I have cleaned and lubed it not to the point of taking it apart past cleaning breakdown as I have done to my Glock 26 replacing springs to 3.5lbs and general fluff and buff with a Storm Lake ported barrel a jewell! The TCP I also took down and fluff and buffed it and it got real smooth.
Now for the BG, I did not realize the pull has been estimated at 12lbs?
So reading forums someone, maybe it was a joke, suggested to use a twist tie to hold the trigger back to the breaking point.
I used bailing wire and so far so good! With the lube and holding back the trigger for so far 2 days it seems to have reduced the lbs. to break point.
Just my thoughts.

Norman:cool:

Thanks for the Welcom Cheif38!

I agree that shooting rounds thru a handgun will smooth it out! Just shooting 500 rounds at $36 per 100@ Wallyworld amounts to $180. I believe is should not take close to 1/2 of the handguns worth to get it to work correctly!
My Glock was out of the box excellent and just got better! My Taurus TCP after a fluff and buff and 200 rounds smooth out to better than the BG!
Of course I will put many rounds thru the BG and then report back but at this time I don't expect much!!
Regards,
Norman

I hate to tell you this, but unless you are hand loading your own ammo you are gonna spend a lot more on ammo than the guns that shoot it. Unless of course you plan on shooting bricks and bricks of .22 LR.

Every piece of mechanical equipment need a break-in period to smooth-en out: Automobile engines, small eqpt. engines, Tools, etc.

Look at it this way............
Not only will you smooth out the gun, you'll get lots of practice with the gun as a bonus.

Thanks cheif38!

Of course I will not give up on the BG! I can say I went to the range the other day and shoot 100 rounds thru it and of course the elevation screw fell out so the laser was useless! Called S&W and got some screws coming!
At the same range time I shoot my Glock 26 with my mods, Lake Storm ported barrel, Fluff and Buff and a 3.5 trigger and man what a suprise when it fired compered to the BG of course no comparision!!

Well now the firing pin broke!

After firing about 100 rounds the elevation screw fell out so I took it home and while cleaning it the firing pin broke the last1/3 of the rear! Oh well going to the dealer in the morning and see what happens cause Smith is closed till Aug 13!

Well I got my BG from Smith back after 2 weeks with no extra mag! They replaced the broken firing pin and the laser assembly! And I have had it under traction with the bailing wire and the trigger pull is still long but it breaks smoother! Maybe a solution let see if I can get more than 100 rounds thru it before the firing pin breaks again!

I took my new BG to the range today with great expectations. I fired 50 rounds. The Trigger pull is rediculous. Much longer than it needs to be and far to heavy a pull is needed. The only way I can fire this gun and keep it near target is to use both my right and left index fingers,at the same time. This makes the gun difficult to use in a mugging situation. Also the gun jammed 3 times in 50 shots. It was not ejecting the spent shells in all 3 ocassions. Until now I have always been satisfied with S & W guns. I am sending this one back to S&W.

Love my S&W Bodyguard

Yes, starting out the trigger pull is stiff. Here is what helped me: Clean your weapon, oil it in the places the manual instructs and shoot it a few more rounds.

Here's my experience and I love my S&W Bodyguard. I hope this helps you to enjoy yours too. BTW, I am a little gal barely 5' tall and 115lbs.

The very first pull, I was not used to double action triggers and yes, I was not sure what to make of the long trigger pull. (I'm used to target shooting with shotguns so it was a shocker.) The first few shots were stiff. I only shot about 24 rounds.

I properly cleaned and oiled it. The next day I went out, I shot a friend's 1911, then an xd .45, then my BG for only 18 rounds. I was getting a feel for the breakover point and things were already much easier. I shot off 6 at a faster rate to get a feel for that breakover.

I went out a couple days later and shot 36 rounds at a target from roughly 15 feet away and even did a quick pull a couple times and all my shots fit within a regular size sheet of paper.

I know I haven't shot it a lot, but have not had a misfire and am now used to the trigger pull and have a feel for that breakover for accurate shots.

I've been told to use decent ammo. It doesn't have to be expensive to be decent. I have a friend who has guided me to stay away from ppu's. Try a different ammo brand if you are running into misfires.

All in all, I am very happy with my purchase and hope this info is helpful to someone.

New BG after 3 broken firing pins!

Well I had to return my BG 3 times for the same problem broken firing pin!
The sent me a new gun serial # KAC####
I will take it to the range and see what happens!
I like the BG it fits and feels Good!
I Will reply on if can get more than 100 rounds out out it!

I love my BG380. When I bought it I cleaned it and took it to the range and but 100 rounds through it. cleaned it again and put another 50 through it. Then I shot a box of 20 of my selected self defense rounds. (fired all 170 rounds flawlessly, by the way, no issues)

The trigger pull did smooth out a good amount, and yes, the trigger pull is a bit on the longer side. But - this is not a target or competition gun, it is a carry piece that I hope I never have to use. IF I do need to use it, I know that I have run enough rounds through it to ensure (as best as possible, nothing is perfect) that it will fire when and if I need it to. In a high stress situation I am (probably) really close to the threat and with the massive amount of adrenaline in my system - a 30 lb pull will feel like a feather.

Just my 2 cents.... Spend money on ammo and get your carry piece broken in real well! Shoot what you carry!

I took my shot my BG for the first time this week. I first had to fight to rack it. Then it misfired five times out of 50 rounds and jammed twice. I was hoping to use it as my carry weapon. I currently carry a LCP so the long heavy trigger is not new to me or an issue. The laser was on target with no adjustment. My concern can it be a reliable carry gun?

I hope your gun can become a reliable carry gun. Mine can't. After a trip back home, it still can't, in fact it's just like when it went back.
I also sold one to a student, her's was just like mine. Embarrassing, to be sure.

Resolution to long pull trigger

I was looking on line and found that I could purchase a different trigger and replace some of the other pieces. I just did this and took my BG 380 out for a trial run. Amazing... what a nice surprise! The trigger pull is still stiff even after somewhere around 1000 rounds through it but the trigger breaks around 35% sooner and it is smooth. No longer have that long pull and... then the break, it is all one smooth action. Yes, it did cost me $100 but this is an amazing cc gun and worth making it the best it can be.

Problem with the trigger

I'm having some trouble with my Brand New S&W M&P Bodyguard 380...

If i try to pull the trigger in a smooth and slow way, the trigger doesn't work properly. The hammer goes back, but not enough for complete it's travel. It only works If i pull the trigger hard and fast.

Anyone have any Idea about How i could fix this?
