Default N Frame Grip Roll Pin Size?

What size is the roll pin that goes thru the bottom of the grip frame on a N frame? I measured one I have and got .115" diameter and .615" length. That means the 3/32" diameter one I tired falls thru and the 1/8" one I tried I couldnt get in with a sledge hammer (kidding about the sledge hammer ). Also .5" is too short and .75" is too long. What gives? Why couldnt they use a standard size. I am hoping Brownells has the ones I need once I find out the correct size. For clarity I am speaking of the roll pin that is used to hold on the thinggamabob you thread the crew into when using a hogue or other rubber grip that secures from the bottom of the revolver.

Thanks

7/64" diameter 5/8" long. Looking at McMaster Carr, they list the 7/64" diameter but only in 1/2" and 3/4" in that diameter. Your call but a ziz wheel in a Dremel will cut thorough almost anything.

Thank you kind Sir. It figures they split the difference.

My older S&Ws have solid pins but it seems that the more recent trend
is to roll pins. The pin you are talking about is used to locate and
secure magna grips by a hole in the grips. Recently when replacing
some target grips with magnas on one of my N frames I was having a
problem with the pin fitting when I noticed that the pin was not
actually a roll pin. It was simply very thin sheet metal rolled into a
pin to fit the hole and was bent and oblong. I drove it out and found
the hole dia. by gaging with small drills. I think it was .115, an in-
between dia. Armed with a micrometer I found a wire coat hanger of
the same dia, cut off a piece, tapped it in and rounded the ends with
a small file. Better than the p.o.s. the gun came with.

I agree about the roll pins. If I need a stock pin, I get either a letter or number drill that fits the hole in the grip frame, round the ends, reblue it, and install. I don't like the roll pins either, but once again, the bean counters have their way to reduce cost by all means.
