Ultrasonic cleaning blued guns?
I have a large Lyman ultrasonic cleaner. It gets used mostly for cleaning brass.
It also came with TURBO SONIC STEEL & GUN PARTS CLEANING SOLUTION.
This works brilliantly on my stainless guns.
But... Have been afraid to try it on blued guns.
Instructions do not mention blued steel.
I'd hate to wreck the bluing on my 27-2!
Anyone done this successfully or ... not?

I wouldn't try it on any blued gun, and especially not a 27!

Ultrasonic cleaning blued guns?
Taroman,
I'm with kbm6893. I am sure that I have read a post or two that stated that they were fine for stainless, but "not-so-much" (cliché) for blue finish, and possibly nickels.
I did a "Search" on this forum and this is the best information that I could find:
Ultrasonic gun cleaning
Can you keep us updated on how it works for blue finishes, if you try it? Inquiring minds want to know........................

I have used it on 2 blued guns, one was fine and the other, a pre-war M&P ended up with a streak in the blue. I would not use it on a nice gun. I use it on gun parts prior to refinishing. It works good for that.

I have seen several blued guns ruined by ultrasonic cleaners. Be very careful if you insist on using one.
Most people I know with ultasonic cleaners only use them on stainless guns or internal parts that arent blued.

Never used one on a blued gun, but I would not try it. When they first became popular, we had one at the FLETC range. We put a batch of Ruger P series pistols in the tank. It damaged the "clear" type coating Ruger was using on their aluminum frames on these pistols. More modern solutions and machines may be gentler, I am not sure.
