Accurate Plating and Weaponry gets consistent top reviews for its various refinishing services.

They offer gunsmithing services, too. Anyone have experience with them in this capacity? Any knowledge of their capabilities and quality of work, particularly involving machining and milling?

They reworked and refinished a Colt Mark IV Series 70 1911 for me. It was "major surgery." The frame of the gun had been damaged by questionable "gunsmithing" when I received it. They did the necessary repairs and refinished in their brushed hard-chrome.

The work was good. I still have the gun and shoot it now and then. (BTW, it still has its original spring-collet barrel bushing too.) It was a job a lot of gunsmiths would not have taken, but they did it and did a workmanlike job of it, and a reasonable price. By that I mean the work was not "perfect" cosmetically, but it was good enough that I did not complain. It was a tough job, in my opinion.

This was quite a few years ago now, more than 15 - sometime in the '90s.

I had him put his compensator on a taurus mod 66 and hard chrome satin finish for a friend. Flawless job. I also had him replace a barrel on a colt det special with a full lugged cobra barrel. The man is awesome.

This interests me as I have a W&K Model 1926 that I may want to refinish(it has no collector value, as it has been refinished before) and restore mechanically. Or at the very least looked over for mechanical defects, as I know very little.
I'm considering APW or Fords, but not sure Fords does a mechanical restore.

Bob hard chromed a Glock  slide for me once and did a perfect job.

is Bob at APW or Fords?

I have personally seen Guns refinished(in Blue)by Ford's and APW,I would pick Ford's anytime.Ford's will also look over a Gun for You and fix what needs fixing. Its not that APW is bad,Just not as good as Ford's.

Thanks.
I'd say alot of people love Ford's blueing, but not so much their nickel work, and mine is nickel.
I'll have to do some more research before committing to spending the loot.
