I have a Hi-Standard Olympic, .22 Short with a barrel that needs a liner. Is anyone here capable of putting a liner in the barrel? Some years ago, I successfully lined a .22 rifle barrel, but would rather have someone experienced to do this one if the price is not too high. Please PM me.

I have the same Hamden 22 Short Olympic pistol. It is one of the most fun pistols to shoot, as you already know. No recoil and VERY accurate.. I had to adjust the feed lips on my mags and once that was done, it runs like a Swiss Watch.
**Just remember the 22 Short cartridge has a bullet weight of 29 grs., and consequently needs a 1-20" twist liner. The common conventional 1-14" or 1-16" twist 22 LR liners are incorrect for your pistol. I went through this on a 22 Short rifle reline years ago. Luckily Brownells sells 22 Short liners.

Good luck and let us know how you make out

THAT'S SOME CRITICAL AND VERY HELPFUL INFO, Dan in NY. I JUST LOVE THIS FORUM ! ! !

What is wrong with the barrel that it needs a liner. I can't believe any 22 Short barrel would wear out even with many thousands of rounds.

Lead does not wear out steel. However, life happens. My brother-in-laws gave me a Mark 1 vintage 1961 that was left in a tool box. Dirt daubers built nest in barrel causing pitting where swirl of nest attached. Gun is rough, but all pieces functional. Looking for replacement barrel. Had forgot about possible liner, which I am now evaluating.

John Taylor does excellent work.

He uses TJ Enterprises liners I believe. They are about the best available. Hammer forged. They make a specific liner for 22short (1-20" twist).

Track of the Wolf (the Muzzle Loader supply place) sells TJ's liners.
Here's a link to the cartridge liners:
Barrel liners: breech loading rifle bore liners - Track of the Wolf

Or you can buy them right from TJ Enterprises for a bit cheaper price:
TJ's Enterprises

(no website)

The Track of the Wolf link will let you see the selection anyway!

Brownells 22rf liners were (still are?) Redman Rebore/Relining Mfg brand liners. They were a standard 8mm (.323) OD. Button rifled I believe.

TJ's 22rf liners are 3/8" OD (.375). That gives you some extra to work with in some applications.
Some find that extra dia a pain. It's easy for the DIY'r to drill a N drill hole through a burned out 22 bbl with a piloted drill and get a decent job.
Stepping up to a 3/8 starts to put a strain on the old Black and Decker!

Just some thoughts
