Hello
I received a set of Meprolight night sights ML-12740 S&W SIGMA as a gift and after installing them, I discover that the gun shoots six inches low at 25 yards with the same ammo that shot point of aim with the factory sights.

Not sure yet if I'm going to get anywhere with this company.. sent out some emails and haven't heard back.

My question is, how much would have to come off the front sight in order to make up for six inches at 25 yards?.. Or is this even practical to consider? This is the first time running into this problem with a handgun.

Thanks for any help

Well the magic number is .027"..

I measured the height of the factory front sight, .161" then measured the new front sight, .188". No wonder..
The rear sights are identical.

Been emailing back and forth, so far, the company hasn't been very helpful.

Knowing this is an older thread, and being a big fan of the SIGMA (a SW40VE), I'll bring this one back from the past and ask you what your original hold was with the original factory sights: at 6 o'clock, center or 12 o'clock. Did you get a lower front sight: I'm not knowledgable (spellin'?) enough to know how to "shorten" an aftermarket nightsight.

Also, what sights are you using on the 180gr powder tests you posted recently? Are they the Meprolight or the factory ones?

CHEERS!

P.S. Nice shootin', BTW!

I had local pistol smith shave off .030’’ from the bottom of the after market front sight. Now it is right on with 180gr bullets.
I used the after market sights to do that project.
I use a 6:00 hold.

Outstanding!

Thanks for the prompt reply: interesting fix & great shooting!

I need to check the front sight on mine: for some reason I was picturing a sight in a dovetail, but it would actually be a post style...
