Hogue Aluminum Grips
Did not really know where to put this? Has anyone had experience with the anodized Hogue Grips/stocks? I just wondered how durable the finish & color was. Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks, Bob

I bought my wife a pair of Hogue aluminum grips for her Ruger mkiii 22lr almost 10 years ago. They're still bright pink with no signs of degradation. It gets shot maybe once every month or two, never carried.

Aluminum grips look good when new, but are easily dinged or scratched to bare metal with use. I have them on a 1911 and an older SIG p220. Once I found out about G10 "Extreme" grips, I lost all interest in the aluminum versions. The finish isn't as smooth, but the color goes all the way through and the checkering is sharp and grippy. (You can take the edge off G10 checkering with fine sandpaper if you wish.)

These grips do show holster wear more than others, but I've never managed to wear through the anodizing. And G10 grips are better in many ways.

I have a couple pairs of the Hogue aluminum grips and like them, but if I had to do over, I would go with the G-10's. I originally went with the aluminum because they were a little thinner, however the G-10s are very close in thinness.
